emittersis the test’s complete source of monitor-emitter coverage. The head enables chart monitors for additional components, but the test does not inspect those components. A missing directprometheus-operator-crdsdependency can therefore pass unnoticed. Add the current chart-rendered emitters to this list. Keepslinky-slurmexcluded because its operator creates the monitor at runtime.Suggested fix

LGTM. A few non-blocking nits:
-
yaml_test.go#L879:
TestMonitoringCREmittersHaveDirectPrometheusOperatorCRDsEdgereads onlybase.yaml, but the PR also adds about 30 directprometheus-operator-crdsedges in overlays and mixins (grove in the 12 Dynamo overlays, agentgateway, kueue, topograph, slinky-topograph, kubeflow-trainer, ebs, mariadb, npd). Nothing guards those. A future*-inference-dynamooverlay that omits the edge would order grove before the CRDs and hit the sameno matches for kind "ServiceMonitor"this PR fixes. Consider asserting the edge over the resolved leaves (recipe.ResolveLeaves) instead; no current leaf is affected. -
component-catalog.md#L36: "Components whose charts offer a monitor ship it enabled" is broader than the code.
recipes/components/nvcre/values.yamlkeepsmetrics.serviceMonitor.enabled: falseon purpose. Scope the sentence or name the nvcre exception. -
Testing: #3316 says only the first six monitors were enabled by hand on UAT, which leaves out the kueue and jobset HTTPS (
bearerTokenFile) monitors. The body says "Manually validated on a UAT EKS H100 cluster" without that qualifier. Please say which targets were seen up, or confirm kueue and jobset on UAT. -
assert-recipe.yaml#L47: adding
k8s-aibomto the cuj2 assertion is a correct fix for a stale assertion (the ref has been on main since #2811), but it is unrelated to monitors. Worth a line in the PR body. -
timeouts.go#L1489: the comment could state just the constraint, that the offline capability check matches the full group/version/kind string, and drop the deployment-order and JobSet details.

…the event exporter e2e cert-manager now renders a ServiceMonitor (#3338), which needs the monitoring.coreos.com CRDs before it installs. Signed-off-by: Varun Ramesh <varamesh@nvidia.com>
NVIDIA#3338 enabled the NFD chart's PodMonitor, so the lane's NFD install on a fresh Kind cluster fails with "no matches for kind PodMonitor in version monitoring.coreos.com/v1": the lane installs only the NFD, gpu-operator and DRA driver folders, and nothing serves the monitoring CRDs. Install the bundle's prometheus-operator-crds folder first, fail the step when the bundle lacks it, and trigger the lane on changes to that component. Signed-off-by: Carlos Eduardo Arango Gutierrez <eduardoa@nvidia.com>
Summary
kube-prometheus-stack now scrapes PodMonitors in every namespace, and most components whose charts offer a ServiceMonitor or PodMonitor ship with it enabled. NVCRE keeps its ServiceMonitor off because it is on no shipped overlay. Each component that renders its monitor at install now depends directly on
prometheus-operator-crds, so fresh installs keep working.Motivation / Context
kube-prometheus-stack never scraped any PodMonitor (nvsentinel, nfd, Dynamo) and several components could expose metrics but shipped their monitor turned off. Turning those flags on alone breaks a fresh install, because cert-manager, nfd, and grove sort ahead of the monitoring CRDs.

podMonitorSelectorNilUsesHelmValues: false.prometheus-operator-crdsedge in the overlays and mixins that declare it, following the harden(recipes): direct dependencyRefs from monitoring-CR creators to prometheus-operator-crds #928 precedent. slinky-slurm needs none, because the slurm-operator creates its monitor at runtime and retries until the CRDs exist.serviceMonitor.forceEnable. Without it, the chart drops its monitors without error if the CRDs are not visible at render time.monitoringnamespace, which theprometheus-operator-crdsrelease creates. A hard-coded release namespace would break if the component's namespace were overridden.monitoring.coreos.com/v1/ServiceMonitorand/PodMonitortoMirrorExtraAPIVersions. Without them, JobSet's chart fails the render inmake bom-docsandaicr mirror.manager.metrics.*, which chart 2.2.0 never read.k8s-aibomto the GKE cuj2 UATcomponentRefsassertion, which was stale on main since fix(recipes): Add GB300/A4X Max GKE bare-metal training and inference recipes #2811.TestResolvedLeavesMonitoringCREmittersHaveDirectEdgechecks the directprometheus-operator-crdsedge for every enabled emitter on every resolved leaf that installs the CRDs, so an overlay or mixin cannot omit it. Removing grove's edge from one Dynamo overlay fails it.Testing
make qualify make update-goldens go test -race ./pkg/recipe/ ./pkg/bundler/ ./pkg/defaults/ make bom-docs make lintManually validated on a UAT EKS H100 cluster with the first six monitors from #3316 enabled by hand: each monitor was accepted and each target was up.
