Documents contract 1.22 as the one-release deprecation window for TinyBox command classification and execution-policy signals. TinySecurity owns that policy; the next contract major removes these results while retaining generic shell scanning and transport helpers.

This is a docs-only transition notice. The following contract-breaking removal must wait until contract 1.22 has been published as a TinyBox release and host adapters are ready.

Validation: git diff --check; changed Markdown files are below the 500-line limit.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Clarified that contract 1.22 is the final deprecation window for legacy command-policy fields. Hosts should not use them for policy decisions; the next contract major removes them.
    • Documented that generic shell parsing and transport helpers remain available, and that hosts must reject modules with a different contract major rather than silently falling back.
    • Confirmed that Describe remains unchanged.

📝 Walkthrough

The module README and contract 1.22 specification document a one-release deprecation window for legacy command-policy vocabulary. They state that hosts must not use this vocabulary for policy and that the next contract major removes it.

Changes: Contract deprecation documentation

Layer / File(s) Summary
Document the deprecation terms
crates/tinybox-module/src/tinybus_module/README.md, docs/specs/contract-1-22.md
The documents identify the legacy command-policy vocabulary deprecated in contract 1.22, direct hosts to TinySecurity for policy decisions, and describe the next major’s removal. They retain generic shell parsing and transport helpers and state that hosts must reject modules with a different contract major.

Priority: ⬇️ Low

Estimated code review effort: 1 (Trivial) | ~4 minutes

Change: Other

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 888af

Host integrators receive conflicting guidance about whether legacy analysis results should drive policy. Align the shell API documentation with the deprecation guidance; the change does not otherwise alter runtime behavior.

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to 888af

Execution and compatibility behavior remain unchanged. However, the new prohibition on using command classifications for policy conflicts with existing public API guidance that tells hosts to gate commands using those classifications.

Retained concerns

  • Low · security · observed: The new contract prohibits using legacy classification results for policy, while the exported API still describes those classifications as permission buckets that hosts should gate. This leaves authorization integrators with contradictory guidance during the deprecation window. The inconsistency is observed; an resulting policy bypass is not established.
Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The immediate security-relevant exposure is host-integrator interpretation of the authorization contract. The PR does not add executable callers, privileges, deployments, or data-store access; exposure across external host adapters remains unverified.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — The inspected module analysis path returns facts rather than a policy verdict. The documented boundary now assigns command policy to TinySecurity, but exported classification-field guidance still invites host gating. That disagreement concerns policy authority, not a demonstrated change to runtime enforcement.

I’m a rabbit with a contract to read,
I hop through the terms at a careful speed.
One release marks the old words’ stay,
The next major takes those words away.
Shell parsing remains in the sunny green,
And TinySecurity guides policy clean.

Document the command-analysis vocabulary in tinybox-bus as legacy and
deprecated since contract 1.22, clarifying that hosts must not use it for
execution-policy decisions because TinySecurity owns command policy. Note
that contract 2.0 removes the vocabulary while generic shell transport and
structural scanning remain separate capabilities.

Wrap the TinySecurity name in backticks across the legacy command-analysis
doc comments so the product name renders as code and stays consistent with
the surrounding documentation.

Document that ShellAnalysis::hidden_execution is deprecated for policy decisions as of contract 1.22. Hosts must use TinySecurity for authorization and command policy, while the structural fact remains during the 1.x transition and is removed in contract 2.0.

Wrap the TinySecurity reference in backticks within the ShellAnalysis
doc comment so it renders as inline code, matching the surrounding
documentation style.
