Summary

  • Wait for the app home shell and dismiss the walkthrough before checking the local-model route.
  • Verify durable chat history through threads_messages_list, which reads the current SQLite-backed thread store.
  • Keep reusable Rust tests on digest-pinned module releases, and isolate TinyFlows/TinyMCP cases from shared process state in unit, storage and in-process E2E runs.
  • Increase the serial Rust E2E job timeout to 60 minutes.
  • Ratchet the flows dependency floor to the measured 321 packages / 301 names / 2 native builds.
  • Refresh generated embed docs and fix broken Sentry intra-doc links.
  • Make the hosted JSON-RPC test fixture portable across hosts without /root and statically load the slow Conversations test component.

Verification

  • pnpm test:scripts — 731 passed, 3 skipped; focused hosted workflow/module runner tests pass 24/24.
  • The module-enabled cron bus/document-port tests pass 12/12; domain_modules_e2e's remaining 7 tests pass together and its 4 module cases pass individually.
  • Conversations.sidebarOverflow.test.tsx — 2 passed; ESLint reports 0 errors (64 existing warnings).
  • bash scripts/check-kernel-floor.sh --verbose, dep-sim calibration, gated-test allowlist, module-source guard, docs check, Rustdoc with -D warnings, and pnpm format:check — passed.
  • Fresh hosted CI is running on this head; a TinyFlows dry-run timed out once under the earlier heavily loaded coverage run and is being rechecked.

Tiny Sweeper review

A test-stabilization change titled "fix(test): stabilize CI after upstream merge" that threads an explicit per-turn child-process environment from the embedding Turn through HostTurnEnv and OpenHumanRunContext into native, sandboxed and container shell execution; isolates process-global module-backed cron tests and module-backed in-process domain tests into dedicated single-threaded lanes; raises the rust-core-tests job timeout from 60 to 120 minutes and rust-e2e-linux from 30 to 60 minutes with a new guard test pinning those minimums; migrates E2E auth bootstrap from the deep-link bypass to the loopback helper with 60 s auth-bootstrap budgets; and regenerates the Embed API and builder-setter documentation. No lane reported a finding; the only notes are that the code index lags this pull request, so retrieved context may be out of date, and that no diff was supplied for app/target/node-tools/eslint/.cache_1dc2bhb, which was not reviewed.

What changed

Threads an explicit per-turn command environment from the embedding Turn through HostTurnEnv and OpenHumanRunContext into native, sandboxed and container shell execution; gates process-global cron test modules behind the modules feature and isolates cron-module and in-process domain test cases into serial single-threaded lanes in CI; raises the rust-core-tests job timeout from 60 to 120 minutes and rust-e2e-linux from 30 to 60 minutes with a new guard test pinning those minimums; migrates E2E auth bootstrap from the deep-link bypass to the loopback helper and raises auth-bootstrap wait budgets to 60 s; regenerates the Embed API and builder-setter documentation.

Features

  • Modified — ShellTool accepts and forwards an explicit command environment: run_with_security_in_context reads command_environment_for_tool(context) and threads the map through run_in_policy, run_sandboxed and the container path, so explicit host overrides seed the sandbox extra_env and the container environment instead of being implicitly inherited from the parent process. (crates/openhuman-core/src/tools/impl/system/shell.rs#impl ShellTool {, crates/openhuman-core/src/tools/impl/system/shell.rs#use super::shell_description::{command_param_description, shell_description};)
  • Modified — container_environment and sandbox env prefer explicit overrides over inherited passthrough: When an explicit map is supplied the container environment is built from it and SANDBOX_ENV_PASSTHROUGH process values are not blended in; python_utf8_env lookup prefers explicit values and only falls back to the parent process when no explicit map is given, matching prior semantics for the None case, while extend_explicit_environment adds the turn's values to the sandbox command request. (crates/openhuman-core/src/tools/impl/system/shell_support.rs#pub(super) fn python_utf8_env()
  • Modified — Turn carries the tool environment as an Arc map and re-derives it for dispatch: Turn stores tool_env as Arc<BTreeMap<String, String>>, tool_env builds it from any pair iterator, and send no longer takes mut self: it clones the tool-env Arc to build a CommandEnvironment for scoped dispatch and moves the map into HostTurnEnv, keeping dispatch and the host env consistent on the same value. (crates/openhuman-embed/src/turn.rs#pub struct Turn {, crates/openhuman-embed/src/turn_control.rs#impl Turn {)
  • Modified — Run context carries and exposes the explicit command environment: OpenHumanRunContext gains command_environment, applies it via command_environment.or(self.command_environment) when merging HostTurnEnv, and installs it through OpenHumanRunExt::from_run_context as a host extension that command_environment_for_tool retrieves from a tool's run context. (crates/openhuman-core/src/agent/tinyagents/host/run_context.rs#impl OpenHumanRunContext {, crates/openhuman-core/src/agent/tinyagents/host/run_context.rs#pub struct OpenHumanRunContext {, crates/openhuman-core/src/agent/turn_env.rs#pub struct HostTurnEnv {)
  • Modified — Cron test modules gated behind the modules feature: The cron bus_host and documents_port test modules compile only under feature = "modules", keeping module-backed tests out of feature-off builds; the gated-test allowlist gains cron/bus_host.rs and cron/bus_host_tests.rs so the checker recognizes them. (crates/openhuman-core/src/cron/bus_host.rs#pub(crate) fn kind_refusal(binding: &Binding, job_type: &JobType) -> Option<Stri, crates/openhuman-core/src/cron/documents_port.rs#pub(crate) async fn address(scope: &DocScope) -> Result<CallbackAddress> {, scripts/ci/check-gated-test-allowlist.sh#agent/registry/agents/loader_tests_specialist_agents_tests.rs)
  • Added — Cron-module lane and module-test skips in the self-hosted plan: The module-enabled lane adds cron::bus_host::tests:: and cron::documents_port::tests:: filters with --test-threads=1, and the storage lib lane skips those tests while a new cron-module-tests lane runs them isolated, because TinyFlows owns a process-global module host during them. (scripts/ci/self-hosted/lanes-plan.mjs#export function buildPlan({ profile, areas, env = {}, isPullRequest = true }) {)
  • Added — Isolated in-process domain tests in the reusable workflow and e2e script: domain_modules_e2e module-backed cases are excluded from the grouped in-process harness via --skip arguments and rerun as four isolated exact serial processes in both the reusable workflow and scripts/test-rust-e2e.sh, keeping them from racing on process-global module runtimes; OPENHUMAN_MODULE_SOURCE_DIR handling is dropped. (.github/workflows/test-reusable.yml#jobs:, scripts/test-rust-e2e.sh#run_in_process_modules() {)
  • Modified — CI test job timeouts raised and pinned by a budget test: rust-core-tests rises from 60 to 120 minutes and rust-e2e-linux from 30 to 60 minutes, with a new guard test asserting these minimums so a future reduction fails the check. (.github/workflows/ci-full.yml#jobs:, .github/workflows/e2e-reusable.yml#jobs:)

Tests

  • unit test — The container-environment test asserts explicit turn variables (TURN_OWNER, WORKER_LABEL) are forwarded, PATH is absent, and PYTHONUTF8 is set; the existing allowlist test now passes None.: Pins that explicit overrides are forwarded without inheriting unrelated host variables. (crates/openhuman-core/src/tools/impl/system/shell_tests_platform_tests.rs#async fn the_container_environment_forwards_only_the_allowlist_plus_python_defau)
  • integration test — The attached-tools test reads generation-zero and successor transcripts through SessionStoreProvider and asserts sealed-prefix message/tool/meta durability plus updated permanent-tool catalogue contents in the successor.: Would fail if session-store transcript persistence or permanent-tool attachment regressed. (crates/openhuman-embed/tests/attached_tools.rs#fn attached_tools_survive_clones_and_session_resume() {)
  • integration test — The completion-routing test asserts the first attempt's finish reason is Some("length") before retrying with a larger max_tokens.: Pins the normalized finish-reason value driving the retry rung. (crates/openhuman-embed/tests/completion_routing.rs#async fn uppercase_max_tokens_retries_the_same_rung_and_counts_buyer_charges() {)
  • integration test — The cron host-delivery test schedules a one-shot agent job ten seconds out, scopes the recorder delivery, supplies an api_key, and the recorder impl records the delivered reply.: Would fail if a library agent's scheduled reply was not handed to the host, and pads scheduler setup to avoid a too-soon one-shot. (crates/openhuman-embed/tests/cron_host_delivery.rs#fn a_library_agents_scheduled_reply_is_handed_to_the_host() {, crates/openhuman-embed/tests/cron_host_delivery.rs#impl CronDelivery for Recorder {)
  • integration test — The tool-hook-context test loosens the isolated-session assertion to contains("owner=isolated") and adds the output as a failure message, and compares cwd against a canonicalised tempdir path.: Still pins the isolation boundary (the isolated session must not see the default session's home) with more robust path comparison. (crates/openhuman-embed/tests/tool_hook_context.rs#async fn scenario() {)
  • unit test — The hosted-json-rpc-enumeration harness models --test-threads=1, cron skip flags and the four isolated in-process cases, asserting 13 isolated cron-module invocations, the skipped domain group and 4 isolated in-process tests.: Would fail if the workflow's skip/lane wiring drifted from the expected commands. (scripts/__tests__/hosted-json-rpc-enumeration.test.mjs#test("hosted JSON-RPC tests are listed and executed with product features", () =)
  • unit test — New budget test parses each workflow job block and asserts the rust-core-tests timeout is at least 120 minutes and the rust-e2e-linux timeout at least 60 minutes.: Locks in the raised CI timeout budgets so a future tightening fails a check. (scripts/__tests__/ci-test-timeout-budgets.test.mjs)
  • e2e test — The H1.4 case now reads durable thread messages via openhuman.threads_messages_list and asserts both prompts and the second canary appear, replacing the previous workspace thread-file read.: Would fail if durable thread message persistence dropped either exchange, and no longer depends on a file path in the workspace. (app/test/e2e/specs/chat-conversation-history.spec.ts#describe('Chat conversation history', () => {)

critique

  • Conclusion: Success
  • Scope reviewed: all assigned evidence
  • Positive: The e2e change only tightens test setup (a post-dismissal waitUntil) and the workflow change removes the inert OPENHUMAN_MODULE_SOURCE_DIR code, introduces no permission widening, unpinned action, or untrusted-context interpolation, so the change is sound to merge.
  • Lane summary: Reviewed 3 files; 0 findings. _The code index is behind this pull request (indexed at `a90ebba82e4b`), so retrieved context may be out of date._ _The forge supplied no diff for `app/target/node-tools/eslint/.cache_1dc2bhb`; it was not reviewed._

security

  • Conclusion: Success
  • Scope reviewed: all assigned evidence
  • Positive: No changed file introduces attack surface: the e2e edits touch no untrusted input, network, auth, or credential paths, and the workflow change narrows env-var scrubbing with no permission widening or new action.
  • Lane summary: Reviewed 3 files; 0 findings. _The code index is behind this pull request (indexed at `a90ebba82e4b`), so retrieved context may be out of date._ _The forge supplied no diff for `app/target/node-tools/eslint/.cache_1dc2bhb`; it was not reviewed._

tests

  • Conclusion: Success
  • Scope reviewed: all assigned evidence
  • Positive: The API-index and llms-full documentation are regenerated artefacts and agree with each other (both list cron_job_handler and the new Job types with shifted line numbers), so they are consistent with the code changes; the testing-strategy doc change correctly describes the new helper.
  • Lane summary: This revision is a CI-stabilisation pass: it raises hosted job timeouts, isolates process-global module tests (cron bus/documents ports, TinyFlow/TinyMCP domain cases, auth RPC fixtures) into serial runs, swaps the deep-link auth bypass for the loopback bypass in E2E specs, and threads an explicit `command_environment` from the embed host through the run context into the shell tool. I traced the environment plumbing end to end — `Turn::tool_env` → `TurnControl::send` → `HostTurnEnv.command_environment` → `OpenHumanRunContext` → `OpenHumanRunExt` → `command_environment_for_tool` → shell and container env — and it is covered by new tests (`explicit_command_environment_reaches_tools_as_a_host_extension`, `the_container_environment_forwards_explicit_turn_variables`, the `tool_hook_context` turn-env path). The new `ci-test-timeout-budgets` and expanded `hosted-json-rpc-enumeration`/`e2e-web-ports` tests assert on the real workflow and runner text rather than on mocks, and the retry/delay changes in the E2E specs replace fixed sleeps with condition polling. I found no defect that fails for a reachable input or regresses behaviour this change touches. _The code index is behind this pull request (indexed at `a90ebba82e4b`), so retrieved context may be out of date._ _The forge supplied no diff for `app/target/node-tools/eslint/.cache_1dc2bhb`; it was not reviewed._

description

  • Conclusion: Success
  • Scope reviewed: all assigned evidence
  • Lane summary: This revision bumps the Linux desktop E2E and Rust integration E2E job timeouts to 60 minutes, adds a script test that asserts the new timeout budgets, and teaches the e2e-web-ports stub to wait for a delayed core start via a workspace sentinel file. The timeout increases only relax limits and the new test reads the actual workflow files, so the change is safe to merge as far as this diff shows. _The code index is behind this pull request (indexed at `a90ebba82e4b`), so retrieved context may be out of date._ _The forge supplied no diff for `app/target/node-tools/eslint/.cache_1dc2bhb`; it was not reviewed._

📝 Walkthrough

The end-to-end test adds post-onboarding waits. Rust test configuration, CI selection, and test execution change. The library-test workflow retains OPENHUMAN_MODULE_SOURCE_DIR. Dependency calibration records a lower flows limit and updated Linux measurement.

Changes: Local model runtime test

Layer / File(s) Summary
Post-onboarding page and tour waits
app/test/e2e/specs/local-model-runtime.spec.ts
The test waits up to 20 seconds for the home page and walkthrough dismissal. It then polls every 250 ms for up to 3 seconds for “Skip tour” to disappear.

Rust test setup

Layer / File(s) Summary
Library test environment handling
.github/workflows/test-reusable.yml
The workflow leaves OPENHUMAN_MODULE_SOURCE_DIR set during the library test. It continues to unset and conditionally restore OPENHUMAN_MODULE_PATH.
Feature-gated tests and CI selection
crates/openhuman-core/src/cron/bus_host.rs, crates/openhuman-core/src/cron/documents_port.rs, scripts/ci/check-gated-test-allowlist.sh, scripts/ci/self-hosted/lanes-plan.mjs
Both test modules now compile only when tests and the modules feature are enabled. The gated-test allowlist and contract-test command include the bus-host and documents-port tests.
Domain module test execution
scripts/test-rust-e2e.sh
The script lists matching domain module tests and runs each test in a separate process with --exact. It fails if no tests match.

Dependency calibration

Layer / File(s) Summary
Flows dependency-floor measurement
scripts/ci/check-dep-sim-calibration.sh, scripts/kernel-floor.limits
The recorded Linux measurement and flows limit change to 321 packages, 301 unique names, and two native builds.

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 01c25

The PR leaves two bounded test-assurance risks: the onboarding test may proceed after a lookup error, and an externally configured runner could make the shared test use a source artifact instead of the staged release. Repository-defined CI does not set that source-directory variable; no production failure is established.

Before / after behavior

  • observed — Modified behavior in app/test/e2e/specs/local-model-runtime.spec.ts: The element-helper imports add visibleTextExists, and the shared-flow imports add waitForHomePage.
  • observed — Modified behavior in app/test/e2e/specs/local-model-runtime.spec.ts: After onboarding, the test now waits up to 20 seconds for the home page, dismisses the walkthrough with a 20-second timeout instead of 10 seconds, then polls every 250 ms for up to 3 seconds until “Skip tour” is absent; otherwise, the wait fails with the specified timeout message.
  • observed — Modified behavior in crates/openhuman-core/src/cron/bus_host.rs: The test-module configuration now requires both test and the modules feature; test builds without modules no longer include bus_host_tests.
  • observed — Modified behavior in crates/openhuman-core/src/cron/documents_port.rs: The test-module configuration now requires both test and modules; the previous test-only condition is removed.

The workflow no longer saves, unsets, or restores OPENHUMAN_MODULE_SOURCE_DIR around the core test run, leaving only OPENHUMAN_MODULE_PATH to be staged and re-exported. The variable is no longer needed by the module tests, so the extra bookkeeping was removed.

Assert the home-page wait result.

waitForHomePage returns null after its timeout, but this spec discards the result. dismissWalkthroughIfVisible can also return false when no walkthrough exists, and the next wait succeeds immediately when Skip tour is absent. The route assertions do not check home readiness, so this test can pass without confirming that the home shell loaded.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Fail the tour check when the visibility lookup errors.

app/test/e2e/helpers/element-helpers.ts:222-241 catches lookup errors and returns false. Negating that result makes waitUntil succeed without confirming that “Skip tour” is absent. Make lookup errors fail this check instead of treating them as absence.

Update the `waitUntil` check in the local model runtime spec so lookup errors
from `visibleTextExists` fail the check rather than being negated into a
successful “Skip tour” absence result. Preserve success only when the lookup
completes and confirms the text is absent.

Isolate OPENHUMAN_MODULE_SOURCE_DIR with the staged module path.

The shared cargo test --lib target includes the TinyMemes tests. Their artifact() helper calls local_artifact, which checks OPENHUMAN_MODULE_SOURCE_DIR first. The tests pass that artifact through ModuleOverride::with_path, and service::remix then calls ensure_loaded. When the source directory contains an artifact, these tests can load a source-built module in the parallel shared process. They are not in MODULE_TESTS.

Save, unset, and restore OPENHUMAN_MODULE_SOURCE_DIR with OPENHUMAN_MODULE_PATH around the shared library test.

Two cron source files were added to the allowlist so the gated test check
recognizes them as permitted entries.

Auto-committed-on: mac-mini
Replace the stale cron/documents_port.rs entry with cron/bus_host_tests.rs so the allowlist check matches the current gated test files.

Auto-committed-on: mac-mini
The modules lane now also runs the cron bus host and documents port test
modules, so those tests are exercised in the same job instead of being
skipped.

The domain_modules_e2e suite opens TinyMCP through a process-global module
runtime, so a concurrent test's teardown could close it mid-request. Passing
--test-threads=1 for that module keeps its tests serial and avoids the
interference.

P2 Badge Guard the empty suite arguments on Bash 3.2

On stock macOS, where /bin/bash is 3.2, set -u treats an initialized-but-empty array as unset, so every non-domain_modules_e2e iteration reaches "${suite_args[@]}" and aborts with suite_args[@]: unbound variable before Cargo runs. This breaks the documented local pnpm test:rust:e2e command; remove the now-always-empty array/argument or use the same ${array[@]+...} guard already used for EXTRA_ARGS.

The test now rewrites /root/ prefixes in the extracted core step command to the
current root before asserting on it, so the check works when the repository is
not checked out under /root.

The domain_modules_e2e module previously ran every test in its own process
because MCP tests share TinyMCP's process-global runtime and can be broken by
another test's RPC host teardown. Now only the three MCP cases run in fresh
processes while the remaining domain tests share a single harness, cutting
per-test startup overhead.

Reformat the polling loop in the conversation history e2e spec to satisfy

Desktop cold starts can consume most of the core's 60-second startup budget before the loopback session is installed, so the auth bootstrap and authenticated-core waits now use the same budget instead of expiring at the old 20-second default.

Auto-committed-on: mac-mini
The command environment is now computed inside the execution paths from the
run context instead of being threaded through as a parameter, and the sandboxed
runner takes the context directly. This removes the plumbing of a derived value
through several layers without changing behaviour.

Auto-committed-on: mac-mini
Moves the construction of the run extension into a dedicated constructor on the run context so the child context no longer builds it inline. The child doc comment was also trimmed to describe the inheritance behaviour without referencing internal test plans.

Auto-committed-on: mac-mini
Move the inline conversion of the turn's explicit command environment into a
named helper in shell_support so the sandboxed shell path shares one place for
building the extra environment map. Behaviour is unchanged.

P1 Badge Replace the module environment instead of extending it

When an embedder supplies Turn::tool_env with only a value such as TURN_OWNER, this branch merely adds that key to NativeShellRun.env; that field is an override on TinyBox's safe process snapshot, which already contains daemon values including HOME, PATH, and USER. Omitted variables therefore remain visible despite tool_env's documented exact-map contract (the accompanying tool_hook_context change also stops asserting that HOME is empty), so library-agent commands can unexpectedly use the daemon user's home. Carry replacement/unset semantics through the TinyBox bus contract rather than only extending the override map.

Add a test that verifies the CI test timeout budgets are configured as expected, guarding against accidental changes to those limits.

Auto-committed-on: mac-mini
The Rust core test job and the Rust integration E2E lane were both hitting
their timeouts on cold hosted containers, cancelling runs before the suites
finished. Their limits are doubled so the full test matrix can complete.

Auto-committed-on: mac-mini
Reformat the timeout budget test to satisfy the formatter, wrapping the repo root path construction and the assertion comparisons across lines. No behaviour change.

Auto-committed-on: mac-mini
Extend the container environment test to verify that explicit turn variables are also forwarded into a sandbox environment via extend_explicit_environment, guarding the sandbox path against regressions.

Auto-committed-on: mac-mini
Add a test asserting that the config/auth in-process integration tests run with a single test thread in both the local and e2e Rust runners, since those fixtures share process-wide listeners.

Auto-committed-on: mac-mini
The config_auth_app_state_connectivity_e2e module shares process-global
credential and listener state across its RPC fixtures, so running it in
parallel let one test tear down another's ephemeral server. Both the e2e
and mock test runners now run that module with a single test thread.

Auto-committed-on: mac-mini
Reformatted a multi-line assertion in the module installation test to match the project's formatting conventions. No behaviour change.

Added the SQLite WAL and shared-memory sidecar files for the tinyflows cron jobs fixture so import tests can exercise a database with pending write-ahead log state.

Auto-committed-on: mac-mini
The import fixture for tinyflows no longer ships the SQLite shared-memory and write-ahead-log sidecar files, since they are transient artifacts that should not be committed alongside the database.

Auto-committed-on: mac-mini
Added focus assertions after focusing the sidebar rail in the resize specs so the keyboard-driven tests fail clearly if focus does not land on the rail, rather than failing later on an unrelated width or colour check.

Add Playwright specs covering chat scroll stability and the cron jobs flow so these behaviours are exercised end to end.

Auto-committed-on: mac-mini
Add a Playwright spec that verifies the chat view keeps its scroll position stable as messages stream in, guarding against jumpy scrolling during updates.

Auto-committed-on: mac-mini
Reformat the chat scroll stability Playwright spec to satisfy the
project's prettier line-wrapping rules. No test behaviour or assertions
were changed.

Auto-committed-on: mac-mini
Add a test asserting the e2e-linux-full job in the reusable E2E workflow
allows at least an hour, so the chat, skills, and journeys shard has
enough time to finish on hosted runners.

Auto-committed-on: mac-mini
The chat, skills, and journeys shard exceeded the previous 30 minute limit on hosted runners, so full-suite shards now get the same cold-cache budget as the build.

Auto-committed-on: mac-mini
The stub core helper now accepts an optional startup delay so tests can
simulate a slow-booting core. The fallback-port test uses a three second
delay to exercise the session's readiness handling.

Auto-committed-on: mac-mini
The stub core now touches a core.started marker once it has finished its
startup delay, and the health endpoint stub waits for that marker before
reporting success. This makes the fake core's readiness observable so tests
can exercise the real startup ordering instead of assuming the process is
immediately healthy.

Auto-committed-on: mac-mini
The fake curl stub read the URL from the first positional argument, but the
script invokes curl with flags before the URL, so the health checks never
matched. The stub now reads the URL from the second argument.
