Summary

  • Audit of every vendor/ submodule against its repository's latest release (openhuman main 11626da, 2026-10-15). Four components were behind their latest release; each is bumped in its own commit:
    • chore(modules): bump tinybox to v0.1.34
    • chore(modules): bump tinymcp to v0.18.5
    • chore(modules): bump tinycomputer to v0.14.0 (includes the host port for contract 2.18)
    • chore(vendor): bump tinybus to v0.1.6
  • tinyagents is not bumped here. At audit time it was behind (v2.8.0); main has since moved it to v2.9.0 (8f1bc5f2) together with the transcript migration, and this PR is rebased onto that.

Problem

Several gitlinks and registry records lag their components' published releases.

Solution

Module bumps (tinybox, tinymcp, tinycomputer) each update every place a module is pinned:

  • the gitlink and the registry record (records_*.rs), both via scripts/modules/release-and-repin.mjs <id> --version X.Y.Z. That rewrites version, release_url and all 17 assets' archive + sha256 verbatim from the release's checksum.toml; no digest is computed locally;
  • the per-module fixture in modules/registry_tests.rs, ported from the old record to the new one by host key;
  • workflow download pins: none exist for these three (scripts/test-rust-with-mock.sh reads the tinybox asset from the registry).

A repo-wide git grep (outside vendor/ and lockfiles) finds no remaining old digest or old version for any of the three.

Lockfiles: every lockfile that carries a bumped crate changes only the version lines of that component's path crates:

  • Cargo.lock and crates/openhuman-app/Cargo.lock for all four;
  • tests/fixtures/storage_probe_module/Cargo.lock for tinybus, including its [[patch.unused]] tinybus-macros entry.

The edits were made without a re-resolve. For each lockfile, grep -E '^[-+][^-+]' | grep -v '^[-+]version = ' over the diff is empty, and cargo metadata --locked passes on all three manifests.

Contract changes:

  • tinybox 1.18 → 1.19 (additive): NetworkPolicy::Allowlist and the SandboxEvent vocabulary. The host only constructs NetworkPolicy::{default, Open, Egress} and never matches on it. NetworkPolicy lost Copy; no host site copies it.
  • tinycomputer 2.17 → 2.19:
    • 2.18 adds an optional target to BrowserAction::Press. The host match in browser.rs and one test literal take the new field. approval_target now names a targeted press's element in the approval prompt, as it already did for a targeted Type, so a model-supplied press target is never hidden from the user. approval_describes_selector_and_locator_targets covers the targeted and untargeted shapes.
    • 2.19 adds the optional ConsequenceHost interface. The host does not serve it, so the existing needs_approval pause stays the only gate (per the contract doc: "A host that serves nothing leaves the pause as the only gate").
  • tinymcp 0.18.5: a stdio spawner seam inside tinymcp only; tinymcp-bus is unchanged.
  • tinybus 0.1.6: workspace version only, no code. Every vendored module requires tinybus >=0.1.3, <0.2, so the root [patch] still applies.

Nested submodule pins inside tinybox and tinycomputer are unchanged between the old and new tags, and git submodule status --recursive shows no drift.

Not in this PR: tinyagents

At audit time, v2.9.x removed the path-based transcript API (tinyagents#453) that openhuman still used, so it was left to the storage series. Main has since pinned tinyagents to v2.9.0 (8f1bc5f2) along with that migration. This PR leaves the tinyagents gitlink at main's pin.

Submission Checklist

  • Tests added or updated: registry_tests.rs fixtures follow each new release, the contract-version asserts move to 1.19 / 2.19, and approval_describes_selector_and_locator_targets covers the new targeted / untargeted Press approval text.
  • (N/A) Diff coverage ≥ 80%: the only production-line change is one match arm in browser_pending.rs, exercised by the updated approval test.
  • (N/A) Coverage matrix updated: no feature rows added or removed.
  • (N/A) All affected feature IDs listed: no matrix rows change.
  • No new external network dependencies introduced: release artifacts are the existing registry-pinned downloads.
  • (N/A) Manual smoke checklist: no release-cut surface changes beyond module versions.
  • (N/A) Linked issue closed: no issue; vendor version audit.

Impact

  • Desktop/CLI: hosts download tinybox 0.1.34, tinymcp 0.18.5 and tinycomputer 0.14.0 from their pinned releases.
  • Security: the browser approval prompt now shows a targeted key press's element.
  • No migration.

  • Conclusion: Success

  • Lane summary: The diff pins three module releases (tinycomputer 0.14.0, tinybox 0.1.34, tinymcp 0.18.5) and extends the browser approval path for Press gaining an optional target. The claim that no test file changed is contradicted by the diff itself: registry_tests.rs is updated to pin every new version, release URL, contract version and all 17 asset digests for tinybox and tinymcp (plus spot-checks for tinycomputer), so a silent registry regression fails there; browser_computer_tests.rs covers the new Press behaviour both ways — needs_host_confirmation for an untargeted Press, and approval_target returning Some("e7")/" @e7" for a targeted Press and an empty description for an untargeted one. The browser.rs change to `Action::Press { key, .. }` is a compile-accommodation of the new field with no behaviour change (the emitted description is identical). The pre-change behaviour (untargeted Press yielding an empty description) is preserved, and the new targeted behaviour is asserted. No defect found. _The code index is behind this pull request (indexed at `98a6b8332b07`), so retrieved context may be out of date._

description

  • Conclusion: Success
  • Scope reviewed: all assigned evidence
  • Lane summary: This is a vendor-bump PR: four submodule gitlinks plus their registry records, per-module registry fixtures and lockfile version lines, with the one host-side contract change (targeted `Press` in the browser approval path) wired through `browser_pending.rs`, `browser.rs` and updated tests. The description matches the diff line for line: the three module records carry the stated versions and asset manifests, the registry tests assert 1.19 / 2.19 / 0.18.5 and the new fixture digests, the lockfiles pin tinybus 0.1.6, the press match arm and the targeted-approval text change are as described, and the repo-wide greps confirm no stale digests remain. I found no defect the diff introduces and no mismatch between the description and the change; the parts I could not verify are the gitlink contents themselves, since the vendored submodules are not readable from here, and the description's audit figures for them are consistent with everything in the diff. _The code index is behind this pull request (indexed at `98a6b8332b07`), so retrieved context may be out of date._

Change: Other

Suggested reviewers: senamakel

Merge Risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to 9ac37

No actionable issue remains identified; the change is mergeable after normal checks.

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to 9ac37

The readable host changes preserve browser confirmation requirements and bind approval to the requested action. No introduced security bypass was identified. Confidence is limited because the upgraded computer-control, sandbox, MCP and module-runtime implementations were unavailable for inspection.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The dependency update affects providers for desktop/browser control, sandbox execution and MCP operations, plus their module runtime. These are authority-sensitive capabilities; readable host changes do not establish the maximum exposure of the unavailable provider implementations.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — The direct path retains forced interactive approval unless the existing unattended-policy check allows the action. Missing approval infrastructure, denial, page-read failure or a changed URL prevents that path from reaching perform. Task approval separately hashes stored task, action and target values and forwards the decision for the stored task ID.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • inferred — Host-side approval checks alone cannot verify that the upgraded provider executes the exact paused target in the task-owned session, honors denial, or recovers safely after interruption. Those guarantees remain unresolved because the pinned submodules are uninitialized in this checkout.

Gitlink 7ceaf5c3 (v0.1.33) -> bcea8a77 (v0.1.34). The registry record is
rewritten by scripts/modules/release-and-repin.mjs --version 0.1.34 from the
release's checksum.toml (17 assets); the registry_tests fixture follows it.

Contract 1.18 -> 1.19 is additive: NetworkPolicy::Allowlist and the
SandboxEvent vocabulary. The host only constructs NetworkPolicy::{default,
Open, Egress} and never matches on it.

Both lockfiles change only the version lines of the tinybox path crates.
Gitlink f5f4f338 (v0.18.4) -> b3694845 (v0.18.5). The registry record is
rewritten by scripts/modules/release-and-repin.mjs --version 0.18.5 from the
release's checksum.toml (17 assets); the registry_tests fixture follows it.

0.18.5 only adds a pluggable stdio spawner inside tinymcp; tinymcp-bus and
its contract are unchanged.

Both lockfiles change only the version lines of tinymcp and tinymcp-bus.
Gitlink ce952115 (v0.13.1) -> 060ee987 (v0.14.0). The registry record is
rewritten by scripts/modules/release-and-repin.mjs --version 0.14.0 from the
release's checksum.toml (17 assets); the registry_tests fixture follows it.

Contract 2.17 -> 2.19:
- 2.18 gives BrowserAction::Press an optional target, so the host's
  approval text match and one test literal take the new field. The
  approval prompt now names a targeted press's element, as it already does
  for a targeted Type; the approval test covers both shapes.
- 2.19 adds the optional ConsequenceHost interface. The host does not serve
  it, so the existing needs_approval pause stays the only gate.

Nested submodule pins (agent-browser, agent-desktop, tinyinference) are
unchanged between the two tags. Both lockfiles change only the version lines
of the tinycomputer path crates.
Gitlink f11987b0 (untagged, 2 behind) -> d621ed0a (v0.1.6). The two
commits only move the workspace version 0.1.5 -> 0.1.6; there is no code
change. Every vendored module requires tinybus >=0.1.3, <0.2, so the
root [patch] still applies.

Three lockfiles carry the tinybus path crates (root, openhuman-app and the
storage_probe_module fixture, including its [[patch.unused]]
tinybus-macros entry); each changes only those version lines.
