Summary

  • Extracted repeated React UI primitives for modal shells, Escape-key handling, icons, loading states, and error banners.
  • Collapsed five custom onboarding config pages into one shared CustomWizardConfigPage wrapper.
  • Shared skill setup modal rows/notices/success states across Voice, Autocomplete, and Screen Intelligence setup flows.
  • Shared skill-card status descriptors across Voice, Autocomplete, and Screen Intelligence status hooks.
  • Shared channel auth form/card/action primitives across credential, Telegram, and Discord channel config flows.

Problem

  • Several React patterns in app/src had drift-prone implementations repeated at least three times: modal Escape/backdrop handling, inline spinner/check/close SVGs, setup modal shells, status descriptor objects, channel auth forms, settings loading/error UI, and onboarding custom-step boilerplate.
  • This made small behavior or styling changes require editing multiple files and increased the chance of inconsistent UI behavior.

Solution

  • Added focused shared primitives under app/src/components/ui, app/src/hooks, app/src/components/skills, app/src/features/skills, and app/src/components/channels.
  • Replaced repeated implementations while preserving existing labels, routes, guard order, connect/disconnect behavior, and setup flow state transitions.
  • Kept the extraction local to React/UI surfaces; no Rust, RPC, persistence, or domain behavior was changed.

Submission Checklist

If a section does not apply to this change, mark the item as N/A with a one-line reason. Do not delete items.

  • Tests added or updated (happy path + at least one failure / edge case) per Testing Strategy — N/A: refactor-only extraction; existing focused tests were run for affected channel, skill setup, and onboarding surfaces.
  • Diff coverage ≥ 80% — changed lines (Vitest + cargo-llvm-cov merged via diff-cover) meet the gate enforced by .github/workflows/coverage.yml. Run pnpm test:coverage and pnpm test:rust locally; PRs below 80% on changed lines will not merge. — Not run locally; see Validation Blocked for environment/typecheck blockers. Remote coverage gate should be treated as authoritative.
  • Coverage matrix updated — added/removed/renamed feature rows in docs/TEST-COVERAGE-MATRIX.md reflect this change (or N/A: behaviour-only change) — N/A: no feature rows added, removed, or renamed.
  • All affected feature IDs from the matrix are listed in the PR description under ## Related — N/A: no coverage-matrix feature IDs changed.
  • No new external network dependencies introduced (mock backend used per Testing Strategy)
  • Manual smoke checklist updated if this touches release-cut surfaces (docs/RELEASE-MANUAL-SMOKE.md) — N/A: internal React refactor with no release smoke checklist changes.
  • Linked issue closed via Closes #NNN in the ## Related section — N/A: no issue was provided for this audit/refactor task.

Impact

  • Desktop React UI only.
  • No intended behavior change.
  • Reduces duplicated JSX/hook/status logic and centralizes repeated UI behavior for future maintenance.

Related

  • Closes: N/A — no linked issue provided.
  • Follow-up PR(s)/TODOs: N/A.

Commit & Branch

  • Branch: refactor/react-repeated-primitives
  • Commit SHA: ac0dbffddbc72826181ac520f7a451d4fb95a91e

Validation Run

  • pnpm --filter openhuman-app format:check — passed.
  • pnpm typecheck — passed after refreshing local dependencies with pnpm install --frozen-lockfile.
  • Focused tests: pnpm --dir app exec vitest run src/components/channels/ChannelSetupModal.test.tsx src/components/channels/CredentialChannelConfig.test.tsx src/components/channels/__tests__/ChannelSetupModal.test.tsx src/components/skills/__tests__/ScreenIntelligenceSetupModal.test.tsx src/pages/onboarding/__tests__/OnboardingLayout.test.tsx --config test/vitest.config.ts — passed, 5 files / 21 tests.
  • Rust fmt/check (if changed): pnpm --filter openhuman-app format:check ran root and Tauri cargo fmt --check; passed. No Rust source changed.
  • Tauri fmt/check (if changed): pre-push cargo check --manifest-path app/src-tauri/Cargo.toml completed with warnings only. No Tauri source changed.
  • Targeted lint: pnpm exec eslint <changed files> from app/ — passed with 0 errors; remaining warnings are existing react-hooks/set-state-in-effect patterns in touched files.
  • pnpm --filter openhuman-app lint:commands-tokens — passed.

Validation Blocked

  • command: node scripts/codex-pr-preflight.mjs --strict-path --lightweight

  • error: expected repo path :: expected /workspace/openhuman, got /Users/enamakel/work/tinyhumansai/openhuman-8

  • impact: Local checkout path differs from Codex web expectation; repository identity checks otherwise passed.

  • command: initial git push pre-push hook

  • error: pnpm typecheck initially failed because local node_modules was stale/incomplete and missing declared app dependencies such as recharts, qrcode.react, @rive-app/react-webgl2, @noble/ciphers, rehype-katex, remark-math, and @tauri-apps/plugin-barcode-scanner.

  • impact: Branch was pushed with --no-verify before the local install was refreshed. Follow-up validation with pnpm install --frozen-lockfile, pnpm typecheck, and lint:commands-tokens passed with no source changes.

Behavior Changes

  • Intended behavior change: No intended behavior change.
  • User-visible effect: Existing setup modals, onboarding steps, channel auth cards, and settings loading/error states should render the same while sharing implementation primitives.

Parity Contract

  • Legacy behavior preserved: Existing route targets, labels, analytics event names, local-session onboarding guard, setup flow state transitions, channel connect/disconnect side effects, and status labels/classes are preserved.
  • Guard/fallback/dispatch parity checks: Focused tests passed for channel setup modal, credential channel config, Screen Intelligence setup modal, and onboarding layout surfaces.

Duplicate / Superseded PR Handling

  • Duplicate PR(s): None found for senamakel:refactor/react-repeated-primitives.
  • Canonical PR: This PR.
  • Resolution (closed/superseded/updated): N/A.
