Community drop-in provider for Web Search Plus (WSP). It adds Search1API as an explicit-only source provider with:
- search — live web search
- news — news search (
search_type="news", served by the dedicated/newsendpoint) - extract — page extraction to Markdown (
html/raw-html/render-jsflags are accepted for compatibility but have no upstream effect) - freshness — date-filtered results
Search1API is a paid API: free plan includes 100 credits, then 1 credit per search/news/crawl call. Sign up at s1.dev.
Drop search1api.py into the providers.d/ directory of your WSP installation:
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/superagents-lab/wsp-search1api-provider/main/search1api.py \
-o providers.d/search1api.pyNo core changes are required — WSP discovers providers in providers.d automatically.
Set your key via the SEARCH1API_KEY environment variable (or the api_key field under the search1api config section):
export SEARCH1API_KEY="your-search1api-key"The provider is explicit-only (auto_allowed_by_default=False): it is never picked by auto routing — request it by name (search1api) in your config or per-call.
tests/test_search1api.py (from the upstream PR) covers request mapping, error propagation, and explicit-only behavior. Run inside a WSP checkout:
python -m pytest tests/test_search1api.py- Search1API docs: https://s1.dev/docs
- Hosted MCP endpoint: https://mcp.search1api.com/mcp
- WSP Provider SDK: https://github.com/robbyczgw-cla/hermes-web-search-plus/blob/main/docs/PROVIDER_SDK.md
Maintained by the Search1API team. Originally contributed upstream as providers.d/search1api.py in hermes-web-search-plus#130; published here as a community drop-in per the maintainer's suggestion.
