Music Maker allows players to create music in Terraria by using note blocks. Included instruments include a synthesizer for playing melody notes, a bass synthesizer, and drums.
A set of recipes can be used to get all the necessary tools needed for creating your own music (or you can just take the easy way out and use Cheat Sheet mod, but hey, that's cheating!).
Note that all Music Maker items require the Crystal Ball to craft.

To play music, lay your note blocks left to right in the order you would like them to play. Every note must touch the next note. At the start of your song, connect a Music Player tile to the first note. Powering the music player with a switch will start the music. You can use multiple music players tied to one switch in order to play more than one note at a time. Up to 10 notes can be played at once.
Version 0.1.2 Update: There are now 3 octaves to choose from. Right click a note tile to change octaves. The note turns green for the higher octave and red for the lower octave. Keep in mind that the lowest note of each octave is A.
All notes take up one quarter of a beat (ie. sixteenth notes). Use the Pause Note tile (obtained from the Music Note Box) to skip playing a note.
The video link below displays how to play music in music maker by demonstrating a short version of the song Smoke on the Water. Notice the placement of the notes, the music player tiles, and the wiring.
