user:~/pwn/how2heap$ H2H_USE_SYSTEM_LIBC=N make v2.23
git submodule update --init --recursive
cd glibc-all-in-one && ./update_list
/bin/sh: 1: ./update_list: not found
make: *** [Makefile:31: libc_ready] Error 127

According to Line 31 in Makefile, the program will execute cd glibc-all-in-one && ./update_list. But ./update_list is a Python program. So we need to execute it by using python ./update_list!
After my revising, the current 28th-31st line in Makefile are like below.

# initialize glibc-all-in-one
libc_ready:
	git submodule update --init --recursive
	cd glibc-all-in-one && python3 ./update_list

Now, the setup procedure will successfully passes!

user:~/pwn/how2heap$ H2H_USE_SYSTEM_LIBC=N make v2.23
git submodule update --init --recursive
cd glibc-all-in-one && python3 ./update_list
/home/user/pwn/how2heap/glibc-all-in-one/./update_list:12: SyntaxWarning: invalid escape sequence '\.'
  return re.findall('libc6_(2\.[0-9][0-9]-[0-9]ubuntu[0-9\.]*_{}).deb'.format(arch), content)

    So we need to execute it by using python ./update_list!

    This is actually not true. ./update_list should work because of the shebang. Maybe try changing the shebang in update_list from /usr/bin/python to /usr/bin/env python?

    oh I see. the issue is because you don't have python. you have python3. I guess at this point, everybody has python3. Let's do /usr/bin/env python3 then

    oh wait. that's exactly what the upstream did. let me uprev the submodule then.

    #233 should solve this issue.
