Running Citrix Workspace App on Fedora via Distrobox
This is how I got Citrix working on Fedora 44. I had tried rpm install but had the gtk missing error. then I install the tarball and it work for 2 of the 3 apps I use for work. Then finally I installed it via Distrobox. Sharing here in case someone else finds it helpful.
Download the deb citrix installation file ~400MB.
host is Fedora and guest is ubuntu
sudo dnf install distrobox
distrobox create -n citrix-box --image ubuntu:24.04
distrobox enter citrix-box
#install citrix rpm inside the distrobox. file downloaded on host.
sudo apt install [citrixname.deb]
#launch citrix download ica file within guest terminal
/opt/Citrix/ICAClient/wfica ['/home/$USER/Downloads/name.ica']
Now lets use distrobox-export
#export wfica to Host system as file
distrobox-export --bin /opt/Citrix/ICAClient/wfica
#without export path it will place it under /home/$USER/.local/bin
#then next time I can launch in HOST terminal as follows:
wfica [name.ica]
Now I can simply launch my host terminal and type 1 word and launch the citrix apps.
