What

Put the 2027 CFP on the website. It opened October 1 on pretalx, so the site was behind.
This follows the 2026 CFP-open commit (speaking page, home Speak card, banner) plus the hero button 2025 used.

Changes

docs/speaking.md

  • CFP bullets: opened October 1, runs through December 11, 2026 at 5:00pm CST; pretalx link; "Submit to the PyTexas 2027 CFP" button replaces the mailing list button.
  • Rewritten to match the CFP text. One CFP, three tracks, with a track table and a section for each:
    • Conference talks: Saturday and Sunday, 25 minutes plus 5 minutes moderated Q&A.
    • Tutorials: Friday, 3 hours, hands on, $500 honorarium, required outline with timings.
    • Python Community Leadership Summit: Friday, co-hosted with Black Python Devs, with links to the summit page, their Code of Conduct, and their support page.
  • Audience section, in-person-only note, updated topic list, and the CFP's financial support wording.

docs/index.md

  • Speak card: CFP is open for talks, tutorials, and the summit; deadline; link to pretalx.
  • New line under the intro: Friday April 16 is tutorials and the summit, Saturday and Sunday are the main conference.

overrides/home.html

  • "Submit to our CFP" button in the hero.
  • Padding between the hero and the heading cut to 0.25rem (the old 2 to 3rem was sized for a hero with no button).

overrides/main.html

  • Banner: "Submit to our CFP! Last day to submit is 12/11/2026 at 5:00pm CST".

Open items

  • Deadline time: the pretalx deadline setting says 17:00 America/Chicago, the CFP landing page text says 11:59 pm CST. The site says 5:00pm in three places. One of them needs to change.
  • Summit page link uses the final URL (.../events/python-community-leadership-summit-2027-at-pytexas/); the one in the CFP text redirects there.

The CFP opened October 1 on pretalx, so the site was a week behind.
This follows what the 2026 site did when its CFP opened, plus the hero
button 2025 used.

Speaking page: pretalx link, December 11 deadline, and a rewrite to
match the CFP text. One CFP now covers three tracks, so the page has a
track table and sections for each: 25 minute talks on Saturday and
Sunday, 3 hour tutorials on Friday with a $500 honorarium and a
required outline, and the Python Community Leadership Summit co-hosted
with Black Python Devs on Friday. Audience, topic list, and financial
support wording come from the CFP.

Home page: the Speak card links to pretalx, a line under the intro
says which days are tutorials and which are the main conference
(people confuse this), and the hero has a "Submit to our CFP" button.
The main content padding under the hero is cut to 0.25rem; the old
2 to 3rem was sized for a hero with no button.

Banner: now the CFP deadline instead of the mailing list.
