The plugin isn't working on "NC 33.02".
But it does work on "NC 33.03-beta1".
Been tested it on two different NC instances, and I'm getting the same result in both cases.
Steps to reproduce
likely just install, if more info is needed best try to reach out to #268 (comment)@architectonio if it can't be reproduced
Expected behaviour
app should just work and open mindmaps
Actual behaviour
is doesn't work

I released 0.1.0-beta.1 now to have a "version line" for 32+ and use 0.0.34+ for the pre-32 nextcloud versions.
@crazybadger any details as to what doesn't work for you? Errors in the browser console or server (I don't expect anything server-side, but rather client side), UI not rendering? Since 0.0.33 also doesn't work which was the release before the move of the repository, any details you can provide would be very helpful.
@architectonio v0.1.0-beta.1 is more or less a repacking of 0.0.34-beta.1 but ships some more dependency-updates on top, but no code-changes beyond the dependencies. Would be interesting to know it that update "just works" in terms of updating without issues during app-update and also working fine afterwards. It also works fine for me testing against server main-branch (future v34).
Also any feedback from you @hayvan96 in case you tried it would be highly appreciated.
I have unpacked the 0.1.0-beta.1 in the apps directory then issues an occ upgrade
The *.km files are just downloaded and not opened. Furthermore, under NEW, there is no "New mind map file" available
However in a private window I could have MInd Map working properly. This made me think of cache! So, I removed the cache in the browser, then the mindMAp worked !!!. Mind that you need to login again.
Great Job!
I tested the beta on my two Nextcloud installations:
On the first one, I downloaded the file, extracted its contents, and replaced the "files_mindmap" directory in Nextcloud.
Then, Nextcloud went into "Maintenance" mode and performed an upgrade.
Finally, I went back to the main interface and tried both opening an existing mind map file and creating a new one. Everything worked fine in both cases.
On the second one, I updated the Mindmap app directly from the Nextcloud interface.
Everything went smoothly, and everything works well there too.
A couple of observations:
When creating a new mind map file, it used to ask for a new name and then edit the file. Now, it creates a new file and edits it directly with a default name.
Will the shared-editing feature be implemented (allowing multiple users to work on the same file concurrently)?
@AndyScherzinger More thanks for your help trying to fix this, but the .km files are still just downloading for me.
I've installed the 0.1.0-beta.1 version and cleared by browser cache and no joy. I'm running Nextcloud in a FreeBSD 13.5 jail on a TrueNAS server with MariaDB 11.8.5 and PHP 8.4.16 if that helps any?
Typically using Chrome but tried on Safari and with a private window
@crazybadger thanks for the feedback and sorry it's still not working in your case. The infos doesn't give you me any clues. Do you see anything suspicious in the browser console, download instead of open means the viewer isn't properly registered which is either a frontend issue hence the browser console or the app might not be properly active than there is should be some thing in the Nextcloud server log.
Do you see Mindmap as an option on the new button in the top breadcrumb bar?

Yeah, I don't see it on the New button so that would make sense.
I found this in the nextcloud.log file:
{"reqId":"1rWmdhXb62SwbbXQMfXE","level":3,"time":"2026-05-06T19:28:03+00:00","remoteAddr":"IP_ADDRESS","user":"adrian","app":"jsresourceloader","method":"GET","url":"/index.php/apps/files/files/3506?dir=/Test","scriptName":"/index.php","message":"Could not find resource files_mindmap/js/files_mindmap-mindmapviewer.js to load","userAgent":"Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_7) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/147.0.0.0 Safari/537.36","version":"33.0.3.2","data":{"app":"jsresourceloader"}}
Yeah, that is the error/symptom. Hitting the search engine it could have various reasons, restarting php pm needed, some permission issue, a viewer race between 2 apps supporting the mime type or else.
I'll try to ask some more devs about ideas how to get to the bottom of it. If you have the time and no others people on the instance you could try turning of apps one by one to see if mindmaps work at some point, than the last time deactivated app would be the cause of conflict if that would be the reason.
Could also be an issue with the app itself but seems like to not be a general one.
@AndyScherzinger More thanks for your help trying to fix this, but the .km files are still just downloading for me.

@crazybadger
I encountered a similar issue the first time I upgraded to version 0.0.33.
I completely uninstalled the app.
Then I reinstalled it and logged in using an incognito browser, and it worked.
After that, I cleared the cache of my regular browser, and now it's working (on two different installations of Nextcloud).
I hope this help you to fix the issue
Thanks again. I've tried removing, reinstalling and using an incognito browser but still no joy. I'll try and go through the apps and see if anything is conflicting, but I appear to have over 60 Apps running so it might take some time!
When creating a new mind map file, it used to ask for a new name and then edit the file. Now, it creates a new file and edits it directly with a default name.
@architectonio I just published beta2 which should bring that feature (and template folder support). You likely need a force refresh again
Will the shared-editing feature be implemented (allowing multiple users to work on the same file concurrently)?
I won't have that much time and collaborative editing has its complexity. So I would say, no or rather not by me. If anybody is willing, able and has the time, such a contribution would be welcomed of course.
I installed the beta 2 and it seems like everything is working as it should.
I just noticed that after the upgrade, you need to do a full refresh of the browser page (like Ctrl + F5).
Regarding the collaboration feature, I was just curious if there were any plans for that. I understand that with a mind map, it's not a feature everyone needs, and people usually work on them individually.
Thanks for the amazing work you and all other guys have done on this very useful tool, which I also use offline with "DesktopNaotu".
All good, didn't take it as criticism, but a regular question regarding a feature but also wanted to be transparent about the time I can invest.
The hard refresh was needed, yes. I do hope though that the released post beta2 given beta2 has been previously installed and fard-refreshed should be fine since I also implemented a cache fix, so fingers crossed future release won't face that issue any longer. Yet anybody on versions older than beta2 will need to hard-refresh...
The update breaks because when users upgrade their NC server from 31→32/33, Nextcloud auto-disables files_mindmap (incompatible max-version="31"). Since the new betas aren't in the stable app store, the
app never gets auto-re-enabled. Running occ upgrade afterwards does nothing (NC version didn't change). App stays disabled.
Fix for affected users: occ app:enable files_mindmap after extracting the tarball.
Not a permanent problem: once a stable 0.1.0 hits the app store, NC server upgrades will auto-update and re-enable the app seamlessly.
Root cause analysis of the update path issue
The update failures (requiring reinstall) have two distinct root causes depending on the user's situation.
Primary issue: app auto-disabled during NC server upgrade
appinfo/info.xml in 0.0.33 declared max-version="31". When users upgraded their NC server from NC 31 → NC 32/33, Nextcloud's upgrade process detected the version incompatibility and automatically disabled files_mindmap.
Nextcloud then tries to auto-recover such apps by checking the app store for a compatible update (upgradeAppStoreApps(autoDisabledApps)). Since 0.1.0-beta.x releases were not in the stable app store channel, no compatible version was found, and the app stayed disabled.
When users then manually downloaded and extracted the beta tarball and ran occ upgrade:
occ upgrade only runs when the NC server version changed, not when only app files changed
With no NC version change, it outputs "No upgrade required" and exits immediately
The disabled app is never re-enabled
LoadViewerListener and RegisterTemplateCreatorListener never fire → viewer not registered → .km files download, "New Mind Map" absent from the New menu
Why reinstall works: uninstalling removes the enabled=no config entry; reinstalling explicitly enables the app.
Why the web interface update works: the admin panel update flow goes through AppManager which handles re-enabling explicitly, bypassing occ upgrade entirely.
Fix for currently affected users
Users who upgraded NC from 31 to 32/33 before a compatible stable release was available need to run after extracting the beta tarball:
occ app:enable files_mindmap
Or re-enable via the Apps admin panel.
This is a transitional / beta-only issue
Once a stable 0.1.0 is published to the app store, this problem goes away for new NC server upgrades. During a NC 31 → 32/33 upgrade, Nextcloud will automatically download the compatible stable version, update, and re-enable the app in one step. No manual intervention needed.
Secondary issue (fixed in beta.2): stale viewer iframe HTML cache
The viewer iframe HTML served by DisplayController::showMindmapViewer() was served without Cache-Control: no-cache. Browsers could cache this response, and after an app update users would see stale content (manifesting as the viewer not loading correctly). This was fixed in beta.2 (commit eea3e20, PR #276) by adding Cache-Control: no-cache to the response.
Hi, I've upgraded to NC33, and mindmap (0.34) no longer works. I tried to uninstall it and manually install 0.1.0-beta2, but I don't get how to enable it. I've unziped it in the apps folder, but when I occ enable it (files_mindmap), then it downloads 0.0.34. once unzipped + permissions/ownership fixed, how can I enable the beta version manually? As a matter of facter 0.0.34 gives the symptoms above (no new mindmap in the new submenu, and .km directly downloads file instrad of opening it)
@henmohr can you check in the app list if the app is enabled? And if so do a hard refresh in the browser. If the app is active then the 'New' menu at the top in the files app should also show mind map as an entry.
With caching in the app store it should become visible within the next our to anybody on any of the above server versions and on the stable updater channel.
There is still an updating issue if the app got updated in between and deactivated but that is a fix in the server repo, potentially shipping with the September maintenance releases (too late for this weeks August maintenance releases). If you hit the update issue, simply uninstall and reinstall the app.
