Feature Request Summary
For a while now I've been looking for an all-in-one window management tool specifically focussing on a mouse and trackpad, however I can’t seem to find one.
What I’m looking for is an app that uses a radial menu or “window throw”, like Loop for use with an external (non-Apple) mouse, but also supports custom swipe gesture mapping for use with an Apple trackpad.
Problem / Opportunity & Desired Solution
Why?
It makes sense to have to trigger a hotkey first for use with an external mouse. This leaves precious room to still map all mouse buttons for different purposes.
However while using the trackpad, triggering a hotkey and then having to choose a direction is unnecessary. The trackpad provides a vast amount of possibilities for swiping, with a different amount of fingers used, that could all individually be mapped to do what the Loop radial menu does and more.
For instance, one could map “three finger swipe left” to result in the currently active or underlying window to snap to the left half of the screen. This mitigates the use of a keyboard key, and needing to point the trackpad into the desired direction, as the swipe instantly snaps the window to the desired location.
Alternatives Considered
As of yet, I’m unable to find an app that features both.
There is Swish that is very trackpad gesture focused, but it doesn’t let you map your own configurations. Multitouch does, and is a great example of how to implement trackpad gesture customisation. Multitouch however, does not have a radial menu for use with an external mouse.
Some other apps offer customisation for mouse buttons or have a “window throw” option, but lack the option to also set custom trackpad actions, as is the case with Loop as well.
