Atmospheric true darkness with natural moonlight and preserved block light.
Duskveil reshapes the game's lightmap instead of placing a dark overlay over the screen. Unlit areas become genuinely dark while torches, lanterns, and other light sources retain their color.
- Five darkness presets, including Off
- Smooth dawn and dusk transitions
- Brightness that follows the phases of the Moon
- Optional block-light-only mode
- Per-dimension settings and a dimension whitelist
- Configurable Nether and End fog
- Night Vision, Conduit Power, and lightning compatibility
- In-game configuration
Duskveil is entirely client-side and does not need to be installed on a server. Settings are saved
to config/duskveil-client.toml and apply without restarting the game. See
Configuration for details.
Duskveil only darkens the completed lightmap, preserving its existing colors and changes made by resource packs or other mods. Shader packs can replace this rendering path and may partially or completely bypass the effect.
