This collection of scripts was heavily inspired, ok, lifted from Ryan Bates' Capistrano Recipes podcast.

I've modified them so that the deployment user is no longer required to have sudo access.  

These scripts were test on Linode Ubuntu 12.04 hosts which allow root logins and nothing else! YMMV
