Jake Paine

Programmer first. Engineer by consequence.

Website Instiller Barkley Assistant

I'm a programmer and software engineer in Birmingham, UK, working across product development, Linux infrastructure, networks, security and developer tooling. I care about the whole system, but I still genuinely enjoy sitting down and writing the thing.

At Instiller my work sits somewhere between backend development, infrastructure and operations. Outside work I build open-source tools, experiment with agent-driven development and occasionally disappear down a Rust-shaped rabbit hole.

My full background, projects and writing live at jrpbuilds.co.uk.

I mostly reach for PHP, Go, Rust, TypeScript, Python and Bash, with Rocky Linux, Ansible, Percona/MySQL, Redis, Docker and Git around them.

Note

I'm not looking for a new role. This profile is mainly a home for the software and experiments I build outside work.
