perf: redraw a plot pane only when its figure changed (CPU-Acc - 13) - #2056
Optimized plot rendering in PlotPane.js by preventing unnecessary redraws, removing redundant resize calls, and reducing the overhead of copying smoothed traces. Added explicit property-update handling and stabilized annotation controls to ensure plots update only when relevant state changes.
Motivation and Context
Plot panes were rebuilding their figures on every render, even when only annotation text changed. Redundant resizing and deep-copying of large trace arrays also added unnecessary overhead. These changes reduce wasted frontend work while preserving existing plot behavior.
How Has This Been Tested?
Added five Playwright tests covering plot redraws, resizing, annotation typing, property editing, and smoothed trace handling. Benchmarked the changes against dev using headless Chromium and Plotly.js 3.8.2, and ran visual-regression and functional tests locally.
Screenshots (if appropriate):
No visual changes are intended. Existing plot rendering was checked through local visual-regression tests.

Walkthrough
Property edits now trigger plot redraws. Resize callbacks wait for redraw results. Numeric edits reject empty or non-finite values. Smoothing overlays use shallow trace copies. Playwright tests cover redraw, resize, property editing, and smoothing behavior.
Property lists validate numeric edits and propagate successful updates to PlotPane. Invalid numeric edits restore the original editor value. PlotPane tracks edits and redraw results. Resize callbacks wait for a successful redraw before resizing. Tests cover property edits, redraws, and resizing.
Copy traces for smoothing overlays js/panes/PlotPane.js, playwright/tests/plot_redraw.spec.js
Smoothing uses shallow trace copies with separate marker and marker-line objects. Tests check shared x data, separate y data, and preserved source y data.
Memoize the annotation mode-bar button js/panes/utils/annotations.js
The annotation mode-bar button is memoized and recomputed when enabled or active changes.
Optimizes plot panes by redrawing only for plot-relevant changes, eliminating redundant resize and deep-copy work, stabilizing annotation controls, propagating nested property edits, and adding Playwright coverage for the resulting behavior.

**Numeric plot properties become text**
When a user edits a numeric property such as a trace width or opacity, `EditablePropertyText` submits input values as strings, and `PropertyList.updateValue` stores them without converting them back to numbers. This callback now redraws the plot with that mutated content, so editing a numeric property leaves the figure model—and metadata built from it—with a string where callers expect a number.
Convert validated number-field input to a number before assigning it to the figure content.

**Concurrent resize leaves stale plot size**
When the pane is resized while `Plotly.react` is still redrawing, the redraw can finish after the `ResizeObserver` has already resized the graph, leaving Plotly at dimensions from before the pane resize; without a resize after `Plotly.react` settles, the plot stays clipped or incorrectly sized until another resize occurs.
After the redraw settles, resize the graph if it is still displayed, or otherwise serialize resizing with redraws.
</issue_to_address>
Poll the final Plotly state instead of using fixed delays.
The numeric-property test reads data[0].marker.line.width after 800 ms. The resize test reads _fullLayout.width after 1,500 ms. Plotly.react and the resize observer are asynchronous, so either test can inspect an intermediate state when the update takes longer than the fixed delay.

Review comment at @playwright/tests/plot_redraw.spec.js at line 135:
Replace the fixed waits in the numeric-property and resize tests with Playwright
polling of the final Plotly state. Poll `data[0].marker.line.width` until it
equals 5, and poll the difference between `_fullLayout.width` and `clientWidth`
until it is at most 2; keep the existing assertions’ expected outcomes.
