7. Configure your Terminal

📥 How to Replace Your .zshrc With the Version From This Repo (e.g., on a Server/WSL)

SSH into your remote machine (skip this step if you’re working locally):

ssh youruser@your-remote-server

Back up your existing .zshrc:

cp ~/.zshrc ~/.zshrc.backup.$(date +'%Y%m%d%H%M%S')

Download the new .zshrc from GitHub:

curl -o ~/.zshrc https://raw.githubusercontent.com/barunTayenjam/hyperzsh/main/.zshrc

Tip: To use wget instead, try

wget -O ~/.zshrc https://raw.githubusercontent.com/barunTayenjam/hyperzsh/main/.zshrc

Verify the update:

head -20 ~/.zshrc

Apply changes (reload config immediately):

source ~/.zshrc

To restore your previous settings: If needed, simply run

cp ~/.zshrc.backup.YYYYMMDDHHMMSS ~/.zshrc
source ~/.zshrc

(change the timestamp as appropriate).

Source your shell:

source ~/.zshrc

Optionally, run Powerlevel10k's setup wizard:

p10k configure

Tips & Troubleshooting

  • Update plugins: Pull new commits from plugin repositories regularly.
  • For unknown commands/tools: Install with your package manager or from the official repo.
  • WSL users: All *nix instructions apply; set fonts via Windows Terminal settings.
