A modified version of the World English Bible (WEB) translation. This project uses the WEB translation as its foundation and introduces specific enhancements to improve verse alignment with other translations. The World English Bible is a Public Domain translation of the Holy Bible into modern English, and our modifications aim to make it even more accessible while maintaining its faithful rendering of biblical texts.
This repository contains modifications to the original WEB translation to improve verse alignment with other widely-used translations such as NASB1995 and ESV. These changes focus on:
- Standardizing verse ordering to match common Bible translation formats
- Adjusting text structure to facilitate parallel reading with other translations
- Aligning verse numbering with NASB 1995 versification while preserving the original WEB text content
For a detailed list of specific changes, including verse rearrangements and added verses from WEB footnotes, please see our Translation Modifications Documentation.

The World English Bible is in the Public Domain. That means that it is not copyrighted. However, "World English Bible" is a Trademark.
You may copy, publish, proclaim, distribute, redistribute, sell, give away, quote, memorize, read publicly, broadcast, transmit, share, back up, post on the Internet, print, reproduce, preach, teach from, and use the World English Bible as much as you want, and others may also do so. All we ask is that if you CHANGE the actual text of the World English Bible in any way, other than changing from American to British spelling or vice versa, you not call the result the World English Bible any more. This is to avoid confusion, not to limit your freedom. The Holy Bible is God's Word. It belongs to God. He gave it to us freely, and we who have worked on this translation freely give it to you by dedicating it to the Public Domain.
