The
getopts::Matchesstruct tracks which input arguments are "free" as in not consumed. This can be handy for programs that do more than establish communication infrastructure. One can work around this by rebuilding the same stack of operations, but helping out here avoids e.g. needing to import thegetoptscrate and remember how to do everything.
