Packages hey-axi as a shareable Agent Skill and prepares the materials for listing it on axi.md and skills.sh. Prep only. Nothing has been submitted anywhere, repo visibility is unchanged, and no LICENSE was added.

What's in it

  • skills/hey-axi/SKILL.md follows the Agent Skills spec: name: hey-axi, a description containing "Use when…", compatibility and metadata. The body is about 100 lines and covers:
    • setup checks (auth status, doctor, exit 127 and HEY_BIN, exit 3: the user runs hey auth login)
    • read and triage commands, plus which id goes where (topic_id goes to thread read/reply; the box-item id goes to seen/move/label/trash…; screener commands take clearance ids)
    • drafts by default and when --allow-send is OK
    • output modes, bounded watch and exit codes
    • install
  • skills/hey-axi/references/commands.md: every runnable path (151), with its flags and how hey-axi treats it (draft, refused, secret, interactive, stream, raw). It's generated from src/manifest.json and src/policy.js by scripts/gen-skill-reference.js (npm run skill:reference).
  • test/skill.test.js checks:
    • the spec rules (name format and directory match, description length and "Use when", allowed fields, body < 500 lines, links resolve)
    • that every hey-axi … example in SKILL.md resolves to a real command (a mutation check confirmed it catches typos)
    • that the reference file is current
  • README: a new "Agent skill" section (npx skills add, gh skill install, manual copy). AGENTS.md: code map and refresh note.
  • package.json: keywords, repository, homepage, bugs, author, and files (src, skills, README.md). "private": true is kept, and there's deliberately no license field.
  • docs/listing.md: step-by-step listing instructions with sources, a draft catalog.yaml entry for axi.md, and an AXI-principle gap table.

Verified

  • npm test: 85/85 locally.
  • npx skills add ./hey-axi --list (vercel-labs/skills CLI, telemetry disabled) → "Found 1 skill: hey-axi".
  • uvx --from skills-ref agentskills validate skills/hey-axi → "Valid skill".

Draft axi.md submission (catalog.yaml community: entry)

  - name: hey-axi
    url: https://github.com/TangentialSolutions/hey-axi
    author: TangentialSolutions
    domain: Email
description: "HEY email, calendars, todos, habits, journal, and time tracking from the shell - wraps Basecamp's official `hey` CLI with TOON output, structured errors, and send safety: compose and reply are saved as drafts unless `--allow-send`."

This must go in via a PR to kunchenguid/axi raised with the no-mistakes tool, followed by pnpm run docs:gen. See docs/listing.md.

⚠️ Owner decisions before any public listing

  1. Make the repo public. All the directories need it, and skills.sh only counts installs from public repos.
  2. Pick a license. There's none now, which means all rights reserved. MIT would match HEY CLI and most AXI entries, but it's your call. Then add LICENSE and "license" in package.json.
  3. npm publish (optional). hey-axi is unclaimed on npm. Remove "private": true, then npm publish.
  4. AXI admission readiness. axi.md reviewers check the source at a pinned revision against all the AXI principles. Gaps: no-arg home view (content first), hey-axi --version fast path (it currently exits 2), minimal default schemas / --fields, truncation / --full, and a session hook. A follow-up PR could close the cheap ones before submitting.

Not merged. Note: this PR and #6 (benchmark) both touch package.json scripts, so expect a trivial conflict for whichever merges second.

- skills/hey-axi/SKILL.md (Agent Skills spec; discovered by npx skills / gh skill)
- skills/hey-axi/references/commands.md generated from the manifest + policy
  (scripts/gen-skill-reference.js, npm run skill:reference)
- test/skill.test.js: spec rules, example commands resolve, reference is current
- README 'Agent skill' section; AGENTS.md code map
- package.json listing metadata (keywords, repository, homepage, bugs, author, files)
- docs/listing.md: axi.md / skills.sh / other directory steps + draft catalog entry
  (no LICENSE added: owner decision)
