🚀 Getting Started

1. Clone the Repository

git clone https://github.com/Saylee12R/JanMitra.git
cd JanMitra

2. Backend Setup

cd backend
python3 -m venv venv
source venv/bin/activate
pip install -r requirements.txt

Create a .env file inside the backend directory:

GEMINI_API_KEY=your_gemini_api_key
DATABASE_URL=sqlite:///./janmitra.db

Start the backend:

uvicorn app.main:app --reload

Backend runs at http://127.0.0.1:8000.

API documentation: http://127.0.0.1:8000/docs

3. Frontend Setup

Open a new terminal:

cd frontend
npm install

Create a .env.local file inside the frontend directory:

NEXT_PUBLIC_API_URL=http://127.0.0.1:8000

Start the frontend:

npm run dev

Open http://localhost:3000 in your browser.

🧪 Running Tests

cd backend
source venv/bin/activate
pytest

☁️ Deployment

• Frontend: Deployed on Vercel.
• Backend: Deployed on Render.

The deployed frontend communicates with the backend through the configured API URL.
