Fix libruntime.so loading errors that prevent ordinary commands such as bash from starting with /etc/ld.so.preload.

Load CANN/DCMI only when needed, defer logger initialization, and preserve normal signal handling. Add regression checks and update deployment docs.

Validated with CPU tests, real SDK checks, and Ascend 310P allocation/quota tests.

Walkthrough

The change replaces eager CANN/runtime and DCMI linking with lazy symbol resolution. It also updates hook and supervisor startup behavior, adds preload and release checks, and revises build and runtime instructions.

Changes: Lazy loading and preload behavior

Layer / File(s) Summary
Lazy SDK and DCMI symbol resolution
crates/limiter/src/dynamic.rs, crates/limiter/src/externed_api.rs, crates/limiter/src/manager.rs, crates/limiter/build.rs, crates/limiter/src/lib.rs, test/manager_cpu/src/lib.rs, test/memory_cpu/src/lib.rs, test/worker_cpu/src/lib.rs
The limiter resolves SDK and DCMI symbols dynamically and caches successful lookups. Runtime and DCMI wrappers use these resolvers. The build no longer links DCMI, and CPU test crates expose the dynamic module.
Passive hooks and first-use startup
crates/limiter/src/config.rs, crates/hook/src/lib.rs, crates/hook/src/ownership.rs, crates/hook/src/spatial.rs, crates/hook/src/signal_compat.rs, crates/limiter/Cargo.toml, crates/limiter/src/supervisor.rs, crates/limiter/src/lib.rs
Configuration checks gate limiter setup and spatial policy initialization. Hooks return a process-local stub client when vNPU configuration is absent and resolve symbols dynamically. The sigaction interposer and constructor-based logger initializer are removed; logger setup moves to configured supervisor startup.
Preload behavior and release verification
scripts/ci.sh, scripts/ci/link-stubs.c, scripts/ci/verify-release.py, test/preload/*, test/manager_cpu/src/lib.rs, test/memory_cpu/src/lib.rs, test/worker_cpu/src/lib.rs, test/spatial_cpu/run.py, docs/testing.md, dockerfiles/Dockerfile
CI removes SDK link stubs, rejects eager CANN/runtime and DCMI dependencies, and runs preload checks. The tests cover passive startup, signal handling, and retries after global or local backend loading.
Build and runtime instructions
README.md, README.zh-CN.md, docs/configuration.md, docs/configuration.zh-CN.md
The instructions describe SDK libraries as API verification inputs rather than link-time dependencies. They document container-scoped /etc/ld.so.preload, optional LD_PRELOAD, and lazy resolution when NPU APIs are used.

The English build instructions may cause developers to prepare unnecessary Ascend dependencies. This is a bounded documentation issue and need not block merging.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title "fix: defer Ascend dependencies for container preload" matches the main change. The PR defers CANN, ACL, DCMI, and runtime symbol resolution to first NPU use. This lets ordinary commands start when libvnpu.so is injected through /etc/ld.so.preload. The title is concise, specific, and free of file lists or vague wording. It does not name every change, such as removing the sigaction interposer or the logger move, which the title does not need to cover.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 25.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 16 functions across 19 files. (6 skipped: 6 unsupported.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

A rabbit checks the preload file at dawn
Then lets the runtime symbols wait
Until an NPU call arrives
The hooks resolve what they need
And hop along their quiet way

Comment @coderabbitai help to get the list of available commands.

Resolve CANN, ACL and DCMI APIs on demand so ordinary processes can start before the NPU runtime is available. Defer logger initialization, remove the global sigaction interposer, and keep unconfigured processes passive.

Add preload regressions, reject eager SDK dependencies during release verification, and document container preload deployment.

Comment thread README.md Resolved
Keep a reference to the library owning each cached address so application dlclose calls cannot invalidate runtime or HostArgs entry points. Reuse the retained resolver for HostArgs and cover concurrent first lookup and global/local handle release.

Correct the English direct-build prerequisites to match the lazy loading implementation.
