App Name:
RustDesk Client
App Description / Website:
RustDesk (https://rustdesk.com/) is a full-featured open-source remote control alternative for self-hosting and security with minimal configuration.
Download Link / Repository:
Why do we need this app? (Use Case):
We are using RustDesk Server Pro and need to deploy the RustDesk Client to our IGEL OS endpoints for remote support and management. It serves as our primary remote assistance tool, replacing other commercial solutions.
Specific Requirements / Customizations:
We have specific requirements regarding the configuration to connect the client to our Pro Server:
- Custom Server Configuration: We need a way to pre-configure the client so it points to our own self-hosted RustDesk Server instead of the public network. Under Linux, RustDesk stores its user configuration natively in
~/.config/rustdesk/RustDesk.toml. To support custom server connections (ID Server, Relay Server, Key), the app recipe could expose a way via the IGEL UMS to populate this .toml file or pass the respective arguments to the startup script.
- Custom Binaries (Alternative): We generate custom client binaries via the RustDesk Server Pro web console. It would be great if the recipe is documented/structured in a way that allows us to easily swap out the standard public Linux binary with our own custom-generated Linux binary (e.g.
.deb) before building the app.
- Packaging note: Since IGEL OS 12 is Ubuntu-based, extracting the official
.deb release mentioned in their docs should be a great starting point to build the .squashfs app container.
