[Automated Review] Requesting changes.
The control-plane part is solid. The web search state, though, is kept in sync by hand across several state variables, and that has already produced a confirmed bug: shortening a committed search to one character clears the input. I checked each comment against the PR head with a test or a prototype; the verification notes are in each comment.
Blocking:
- Fix the input-clearing bug and add a regression test (memory-collection.tsx L74).
- Compute
committedandproblemfrom the URL and input instead of storing copies (L66). Prototype verified: 19/19 tests pass. - Share one debounced URL-search hook rather than adding a third copy, or at least move it to its own file (L59).
- Combine the two query schemas (shared memories.ts L395). Verified to behave the same.
- Add a shared
revisionMatchesAllTermshelper, maketermsrequired, and renameFACT_SEARCH_FIELDSnow that it covers all memory types.
Smaller items are in the remaining inline comments.
Checked and withdrawn: I first suggested computing the paging offset from { search, offset } instead of resetting it during render. A prototype showed that brings back the stale offset after clearing a search (the "returns to the first page when a search is cleared" test fails), so the current reset block is needed.

[Automated Review] Bug: shortening a committed search to one character clears the search box.
Steps: the page has ?search=rspec, and the user backspaces to r. After the debounce, checkSearch("r") gives { committed: "" }, so search is removed from the URL. The URL comes back as "", which is not equal to input.trim() ("r"), so this line treats it as navigation and calls setInput(""). What the user typed is erased mid-edit.
Verified with a test (it fails on this branch: expected '' to be 'r'). The test also changes the router mock so replace updates useSearchParams, as the real router does. All 18 existing tests in this file still pass with that mock.
it("keeps a one-character edit after the URL echo", async () => {
mocks.params = new URLSearchParams({ search: "rspec" });
render(<MemoriesSettings />);
const box = screen.getByRole("searchbox", { name: "Search memories" }) as HTMLInputElement;
fireEvent.change(box, { target: { value: "r" } });
await waitFor(() => expect(mocks.replace).toHaveBeenLastCalledWith("/settings", { scroll: false }));
expect(box.value).toBe("r");
});Our own write comes back as what the input commits to, not as input.trim(). Compare against that instead: if (urlSearch !== committedOf(input)) setInput(urlSearch). See the next comment for the restructure that does this. Please also add this regression test. The existing "single character" test starts with no search in the URL, so it doesn't catch this.

Fixed in bc48fe7, and your regression test is in as written. The hook now recognizes its own write by the value it wrote, so a one-letter edit that commits to no search keeps the box as typed. The test router writes replace back into useSearchParams like the real one.

[Automated Review] committed and problem are stored copies of values that can be computed. Each has two writers (the debounce timer and the render-time URL sync block), and keeping them in sync by hand is how the bug above, and the two earlier ones the cross-model review found, got in. The URL is the source of truth for the committed search. The problem message is a pure function of the input:
const urlSearch = params.get("search") ?? "";
const committed = committedOf(urlSearch) ?? "";
const [input, setInput] = useState(urlSearch);
const [lastUrlSearch, setLastUrlSearch] = useState(urlSearch);
if (urlSearch !== lastUrlSearch) {
setLastUrlSearch(urlSearch);
if (urlSearch !== committedOf(input)) setInput(urlSearch);
}
const checked = checkSearch(input);
const problem = "problem" in checked ? checked.problem : null;
useEffect(() => {
const target = committedOf(input);
if (target === null) return; // over-limit: keep the last valid results
const timeout = window.setTimeout(() => { /* write target to ?search= as today */ }, SEARCH_DEBOUNCE_MS);
return () => window.clearTimeout(timeout);
}, [input, params, pathname, router]);(committedOf(raw) is checkSearch(raw)'s committed, or null when there's a problem.)
Verified: with this version, all 18 existing tests plus the regression test above pass (19/19). Two notes:
- The test mock has to write
replaceback intouseSearchParams; the current static mock never updates the URL. - The problem message now appears as the user types, not after the debounce.

Done. Nothing is stored any more: search comes from the URL and problem from the typed text (use-memory-search.ts). Your note that the problem message now shows while typing holds.

[Automated Review] This is the third separate debounced ?search= implementation in web. The others are automations/page.tsx and sessions/page.tsx, and each defines its own SEARCH_DEBOUNCE_MS = 300. CLAUDE.md says to define each default once. The sessions page's pendingSearch approach already handles our own write coming back through the URL, which is the case this copy gets wrong.
Please pull out one shared hook (e.g. useUrlSearchParam("search", { commit: committedOf })) and use it here. Moving automations and sessions onto it can be a follow-up. At the very least, move this hook to its own use-memory-search.ts next to use-memory-collection.ts, not inside the component file.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Done. useUrlSearchParam(name, commit) is in web/src/hooks/use-url-search-param.ts, with its own tests, and the memory part is in use-memory-search.ts. SEARCH_DEBOUNCE_MS is defined once, in lib/search.ts, and Sessions and Automations import it. Moving their logic onto the hook is the follow-up. The hook tracks its in-flight write rather than the rendered URL, so reversals and late landings are handled, as on the Sessions page.

[Automated Review] The JSDoc comments are in the wrong places:

checkSearch. The first ("Search text typed into the box…") describesuseCommittedSearch(L59).
Please move each to its owner.

Done. Each JSDoc block is now on its owner, MemoryCollection has its comment back, and the hook moved to its own file.

[Automated Review] Nit: both branches build MEMORY_STATUS_LABELS[collection.status].toLowerCase(). Compute the label once and branch only on the suffix.

Done. The label is computed once, and only the suffix branches.

There was a problem hiding this comment.
[Automated Review] Misleading name: FACT_SEARCH_FIELDS now drives the general management list. The list covers directive records as well as fact ones: MemoryRecordStore.list has no memory_type filter, and MEMORY_TYPES = ["fact", "directive"]. It now matches against a list named for facts, defined in the agent fact-search port, with ranking weights the list doesn't use. CLAUDE.md asks us to fix names like this when spreading them. Please move the field list to a neutral module, e.g. MEMORY_SEARCH_FIELDS with title/description/content, and let fact search attach its own weights.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Done. The field list is MEMORY_SEARCH_FIELDS in memory/search-fields.ts, fact search attaches FACT_SEARCH_WEIGHTS, and docs/MEMORY.md is updated.

[Automated Review] This filterFn does the same thing as Combobox's defaultFilter, which checks label and description; these options have no description. Please delete it. Verified: with it removed, the "narrows the scope picker as you type" test still passes.

Done. The filterFn is removed, and the default filter covers it.

[Automated Review] options merges repos and environments into one array. The code then splits it back by scope.type to make groups, and searches it twice more with memoryScopeDisplayKey (once for selectedLabel at L118, once in onChange at L142). Build groups straight from repos and environments, and keep one Map<key, { scope, label }> for the two lookups. The merge-then-split round trip and the repeated find calls go away.

Done. groups is built straight from repos and environments, and one Map serves both the selected label and onChange.

[Automated Review] This 200-character triggerClassName is copied word for word from secrets-settings.tsx, and sandbox-settings.tsx has a third copy. Please make it a shared constant or a Combobox trigger variant so the three pickers can't drift apart.

Done. FIELD_COMBOBOX_TRIGGER_CLASS in ui/combobox.tsx is used by Secrets, Sandbox and memories.

[Automated Review] search: string = "" here and in useMemories (hooks/use-memories.ts L58) is unneeded optionality. Each hook has exactly one caller, and it always passes search. Please make the parameter required.

Done. search is required in useMemoryCollection and useMemories.

Thanks for the careful review, and for testing the paging alternative yourself. I've kept the render-time reset. Everything else is addressed in Blocking items

Closes #2331
Summary
Adds search to Settings → Shared memories.
Combobox, grouped into Repositories and Environments, following Settings → Secrets. The three settings pickers now share oneFIELD_COMBOBOX_TRIGGER_CLASS.?search=.useUrlSearchParaminweb/src/hooks/use-url-search-param.ts.SEARCH_DEBOUNCE_MSis defined once, inlib/search.ts, and the Sessions and Automations pages import it. Moving their search logic onto the hook can follow.GET /memories?search=filters on the server, because the list is paginated.LIKE.revisionMatchesAllTermsandMEMORY_SEARCH_FIELDS(memory/search-fields.ts) are shared with agent fact search, which keeps its ranking asFACT_SEARCH_WEIGHTS.memorySearchQuerySchemais used by both agent search and the list, where blank means no filter.memoryListSearchFromInputis the single rule for what a search box applies: under 2 characters is not a search yet, and an over-limit query shows a message instead of being sent.Behavior change: agent memory search validation errors now read "Use at least 2 characters." / "Use at most 8 search terms." instead of the zod defaults and "Too many search terms".
