## What is the CCSS Board of Directors?

The [Board of Directors](/about/team) is a group of elected students who work with Carleton's [School of Computer Science](https://carleton.ca/scs/) to organize [events](/events), services, and other activities for the benefit of the undergraduate computer science student body.

The board consists of the following seven positions:

**President:** The President is responsible for leading the ideation and planning of the year while acting as the figurehead of the organization and a liaison with the School of Computer Science.

**Director of Operations:** The Director of Operations is responsible for enhancing internal processes, integrating post-mortem insights into upcoming initiatives, and fostering volunteer engagement within our membership.

**Director of Finance:** The Director of Finance is responsible for searching for external sources of funding, overseeing budget creation, and providing reimbursement to volunteers.

**Director of Academics:** The Director of Academics is responsible for being a liaison with professors, advocating for curriculum improvement, and organizing initiatives that ensure our members achieve academic success.

**Director of Social:** The Director of Social is responsible for fostering a welcoming environment and leading initiatives that encourage our membership to foster meaningful relationships.

**Director of Industry Initiatives:** The Director of Industry Initiatives is responsible for building relationships with industry partners and organizing supplementary career-related resources for our membership.

**Director of Content Creation:** The Director of Content Creation is responsible for overseeing the creation of videos, short-form content, written articles, visual guides and/or printed materials to support students academically and professionally while capturing the broader student experience.

Members of the board are elected by the undergraduate Bachelor of Computer Science and Bachelor of Cybersecurity student body for a one-year term.

## How do I run for a position?

If you want to run for a CCSS Board of Directors position for the 2026-2027 academic year, please complete the **[nomination form](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeVCHEh5CABVvf-0CR6U3RafYpRfu1c099kFMGQcXWL-E14Mg/viewform)** and collect three signatures from valid Bachelor of Computer Science and Bachelor of Cybersecurity students (collected on the nomination form).

The nomination form will close on Friday, **Friday, February 20th** at 11:59 PM EST.

Here is the breakdown of this year's electoral period:

- Nomination Period: **February 2nd - February 20th**
- Campaigning Period: **February 25th - March 6th**
- Voting Period: **March 9th - March 13th**
