Is the first of these intended to provide age bounds for each individual, even in studies that provide only an age_group? For studies that do provide individual ages, presumably that exact age should be used for both age_min and age_max.

How age_min and age_max are populated:

1. For studies that provide only age_group --> age boundary of a given age_group is used for age_min and age_max
2. For studies that provide only individual ages --> the exact age is used for both age_min and age_max (i.e., age = age_min = age_max)
3. For studies that provide both individual age and age_group --> use individual age for age_min and age_max (i.e., same as the second case)
