Reasons for the request

The project appears to be registered but has never published a file.

https://pypi.org/simple/chonk/ returns a valid PEP 503 index page containing
zero links (pypi:project-status = active, serial 28910253), and
https://pypi.org/pypi/chonk/json returns 404 — the signature of a name that
was reserved without any release ever being uploaded.

An upload attempt on 2026-08-13 was rejected with:

403 The user 'ken_stott' isn't allowed to upload to project 'chonk'.

I maintain an actively developed open-source library named chonk
(https://github.com/kenstott/chonk) — a retrieval/RAG pipeline for chunking,
embedding, NER, and vector search. Because the name is unavailable I have
published it as chonk-rag (https://pypi.org/project/chonk-rag/), keeping
chonk as the import name. I would like to consolidate under the natural
distribution name if the existing registration is indeed dormant.

I am not asking for the name to be taken from anyone actively using it. If the
current owner has plans for it, or responds and wants to keep it, I am content
to stay on chonk-rag.

  description, no homepage, and no repository, since it has no releases and
  therefore no distribution metadata.
• Proposed project: https://github.com/kenstott/chonk — published today as
  https://pypi.org/project/chonk-rag/ (v0.2.4, MIT, ~1,300 tests).

Contact and additional research

Research performed:

• https://pypi.org/simple/chonk/ → HTTP 200, valid index, 0 files.
• https://pypi.org/pypi/chonk/json → HTTP 404 (consistent with no releases).
• Upload to the project → 403, quoted above.

Contact attempts: none yet, and I want to be transparent about why. A project
with no releases publishes no author or maintainer email in any distribution
metadata, and the project page at https://pypi.org/project/chonk/ is not
readable programmatically (the request is served a bot challenge), so I have not
been able to identify the owner or any contact route from public data. I am
happy to attempt direct contact if a moderator can point me at the owner, and I
understand from the template that moderators contact owners independently.

I appreciate that PEP 541 requests take time and are decided at moderator
discretion. There is no urgency on my side — chonk-rag is published and
working.
