Feature increment release based on 6.0.0.

This will be a super fast follow-up to 6.0.0, containing a minimal set of changes. The purpose being getting a few ready-to-ship changes out of the door before the parallal task exection in 6.2.0, and to get a proper version tag on our master branch.

This release is frozen. No new PR's will be accepted.
