On Linux, I see that the file permissions of the credentials.json file are set so it can be ready by anyone on the machine (-rw-rw-r--), which is rather unsafe. Normally, you would expect files that contain credentials to be only readable by the file owner. Would you consider to set the file permissions to be more restrictive, so they can only be read and modified by the file owner?
