Recent research suggests that the existence of a CLAUDE.MD or AGENTS.MD file does not increase their success rate but does increase cost for the user as more input is added to the prompt¹. I know someone here is considering a doc outlining guidelines for AI generated code (#2003), so I share this because I think it's yet more evidence that people aren't really interrogating this stuff deeply and it might be something that affects your stance.
