Cant copy / paste

MAC OS 26.5 + cherrytree 1.7.0 through homebrew run wia iterm2

Describe the bug
Cant paste anything from firefox (copy paste within the cherytree works, copy paste from text editor works, but not from firefox....) There is error message in the terminal in the time when the paste attempt is done - [2026-06-18 10:12:29.110] [che] [debug] 0 -> charset:

To Reproduce

1. copy anything from any website in firefox
2. paste it in the cherrytree

Are you pasting into a rich text node?
If you paste as plain text (Ctrl+Shift+V instead of Ctrl+V) does it work?
What locale/language is your OS?

Same problem here.

MacOS 26.5.1 - English(US)
CherryTree 1.7.0

Only plain text pasting works with Ctrl+Shift+V (Not Cmd key). But only this. Images/screenshots can’t be pasted anymore and it was working fine on Cherrytree v1.6.*.

Sorry for the delay,

• yes I am pasting to rich text node
• ctr+shift+v or ctrl+v doesnt work at all
• I have Czech language and MasOS Tahoe 26.5

If you are testing on homebrew, can you download https://github.com/giuspen/cherrytree/actions/runs/28291732492/artifacts/7925240318 and try that test binary "cherrytree" instead of the installed one and report if the issue is fixed.
The binary still requires all the library from your homebrew, it's not a standalone.
If not fixed, please paste the failing log which has more debug prints.

Raw text copy/paste works using CMD+C/CMD+V.

Images and screenshots still can't be copied/pasted:

I seem to be having a similar issue, on MacOS with the latest 1.7.1 version. After upgrading from 1.6.3 to 1.7.1, via Homebrew, copying text from any other app and attempting to paste into Cherrytree, no text appears and the logs report the same line others have noted:
[che] [debug] 0 -> charset:
When I copy/paste text from within Cherrytree, the text appears but at the same time the logs then report:
[gtk] [critical] gdk_atom_intern: assertion 'atom_name != NULL' failed
The nodes are rich text and using the alternative raw text 'ctrl+shift+v' command does work.
