FEATURE REQUEST: Add support for EC2, RDS, and ASG resources to resourcegroupstaggingapi tag and untag resources

Writing tags with this api is not currently supported for these services (https://docs.getmoto.org/en/latest/docs/services/resourcegroupstaggingapi.html). But it would be extremely helpful for some tests I would like to write to ensure consistent tagging accross multiple services.

The services listed are just the 3 that I am currently working with, but support for a wider range of services than just these would be very helpful. Not sure if there's a convenient way for moto to generalize the implementation here or not.

Hi @CrypticCabub , thanks for raising this - I'll mark it as an enhancement.

There's no generic way to add support for a specific service to ResourceGroupsTaggingAPI yet. That is something I want to tackle at some point, I just haven't found the time to do so.

Until then, it has to be implemented differently for every service, and sometimes even per different resource types.

Which resource types specifically do you want to see supported for EC2 and ASG?
(RDS is already pretty well supported, as far as I know.)

I only need the base-level resources for now:

::Instance and ::AutoScalingGroup.

for RDS I need standard db instances and clusters, though I admitedly haven't tried their apis yet in my testing
