Built-in support for a sidebar #833

I find having a sidebar that contains information about the currently viewed images or image group to be very helpful - and it's currently doable with some editing to the fancybox layout and some custom code. However it's a bit cumbersome and inelegant from what I think should be a standard feature or plugin. For instance as we noted on discord, there can be some troubles with the carousel toolbar parenting looking strange when the fancybox sidebar is opened.
Describe the solution you'd like
If possible, I think it'd make a great built-in optionally-enabled Plugin, so it cuts down on custom code and hacky-ness.
