Current version of the application only has peak-finding based fundamental frequency detection. By applying certain audio processing/machine learning based techniques, it seems possible that we can detect the exact string that was played. Combined with the frequency information, this would give enough information to detect the exact frets, which would (in the future) allow more sophisticated features such as automatic tablature generation or positional scale/arpeggio exercises.
