Proposal: Promote "Teaching" to a Top Concept in TaDiRAH

Currently, Teaching is modeled as a sub-concept of Disseminating and defined as:

“teaching refers to the activity of actively imparting knowledge, competences or skills.”

We propose to promote Teaching to an independent Top Concept.

Rationale

The current placement under Disseminating implies that teaching is primarily a form of communication or information sharing. However, teaching differs fundamentally in its purpose.

Disseminating = communicating or sharing information and research outputs
Teaching = facilitating learning, competence development, and skill acquisition

In research support and digital scholarship contexts (e.g. Open Science, FAIR, EOSC), activities such as workshops, training development, and capacity building are increasingly central and cannot be adequately described as dissemination alone.

While Disseminating focuses on:

• communicating information, research outputs, or results
• making knowledge publicly available
• sharing resources with a broader audience

Teaching specifically focuses on:

• competence development
• instructional design
• structuring learning processes
• facilitating skill acquisition
• training and educational support
