Fixes#5580. An already consumed asset-lock response is produced by a single node during CheckTx and is not proof of Platform-side consumption. The wallet's current reconciliation path already keeps this report nonterminal; this change adds the authenticated state query needed to resolve it safely on a later retry or resume.
Requested by llbartekll via PastaClaw. Source: #5580
What was done?
Added getAssetLockOutpointInfo to the Platform gRPC API, with generated Java, Objective-C, Python, Node.js, and web clients.
Added Drive proof generation and verification for a single asset-lock outpoint, including absence, partial consumption with remaining credits, and full consumption.
Added the ABCI query handler, protocol-version method entries, DAPI pass-through, SDK transport/query/Fetch support, and mock serialization.
Added endpoint documentation and retained the existing nonterminal wallet reconciliation behavior so an unauthenticated error cannot create terminal completion.

Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Added a Platform query to check whether an asset lock is absent, partially consumed, or fully consumed, and to retrieve its remaining credits.
The query can return a proof, which SDKs can verify across supported client languages.
Improvements
Wallet flows now use verified Platform status to confirm when an asset lock has been fully consumed, helping reconcile submission results without repeating an already completed action.

Walkthrough
This change adds a versioned Platform RPC to query an asset-lock outpoint’s status or request a proof. Drive generates and verifies the proofs. ABCI, DAPI, generated clients, and the SDK expose the query. Wallet reconciliation checks proof-backed state before marking a lock consumed.

Summary
Query contract and generated RPC bindings packages/dapi-grpc/protos/platform/v0/platform.proto, packages/dapi-grpc/build.rs, packages/dapi-grpc/clients/platform/v0/..., packages/dapi-grpc/clients/drive/v0/nodejs/drive_pbjs.js
The schema adds a versioned request with an outpoint and proof flag. The response contains status or proof with metadata. Generated bindings add the messages and unary RPC across supported clients.
Drive adds outpoint proof generation and verification. Verification maps absent entries, empty item values, and serialized values to not-present, fully consumed, and partially consumed states. Version tables configure the query and proof methods.
ABCI query and server routing packages/rs-drive-abci/src/query/..., packages/rs-dapi/src/services/platform_service/mod.rs, packages/rs-dapi/src/metrics.rs, packages/rs-dapi-client/src/transport/grpc.rs, packages/dapi/doc/endpoints/index.md
The ABCI query validates the request and returns status or proof with checkpoint metadata. QueryService, DAPI, and the gRPC transport route the RPC. The endpoint list and metrics allowlist include it.
SDK query and fetch support packages/rs-sdk/src/platform/..., packages/rs-sdk/src/mock/...
The SDK constructs requests from an OutPoint, supports fetching StoredAssetLockInfo, and adds mock handling for the request and response.
For an already-consumed report, the wallet checks verified state. It marks the lock consumed only when the query confirms FullyConsumed; otherwise, it continues through reconciliation.

The title "feat(platform): add proof-backed asset lock outpoint query" matches the main change. The PR adds a proof-backed getAssetLockOutpointInfo query across the Platform gRPC API, generated clients, Drive proof generation and verification, ABCI, DAPI, and SDK. The title is specific and concise, and it does not describe anything absent from the changeset. It omits the wallet reconciliation changes, which is acceptable because the title need not cover every detail.

Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Issue [#5580] requires the proof-backed query stack, Type 18 reconciliation, and wallet tests for both outcomes and the no-proof case.
Implemented at the reviewed head:
Query stack: Drive proof generation and verification (prove_asset_lock_outpoint_info, verify_asset_lock_outpoint_info), ABCI handler, gRPC/DAPI routing, generated clients, and SDK Fetch for StoredAssetLockInfo.
Type 18 path (fund_from_asset_lock.rs): an already-consumed submit error triggers mark_asset_lock_consumed_if_verified. Only a verified FullyConsumed result consumes the local lock. Other results and query errors return Ok(false) and stay on the nonterminal reconciliation path (orchestration.rs).
Unmet coding requirement:
The issue requires wallet tests for the verified-consumed, not-consumed (absent or partial), and no-proof cases. The diffs of fund_from_asset_lock.rs and orchestration.rs add no test code or test module. The new Drive tests in prove_asset_lock_outpoint_info/mod.rs cover Drive proof outcomes only. They do not exercise wallet reconciliation.
The PR description checklist marks the test item unchecked. Reported targeted wallet test runs do not show coverage of these outcomes in this diff.
Resolution
Add automated rs-platform-wallet tests for the Type 18 and reconciliation paths. Use a mock or stub Platform query source. Cover: (1) verified FullyConsumed consumes the local lock and returns the verified-consumed outcome with no landed actions; (2) partial consumption leaves the lock unconsumed and returns AssetLockAlreadyConsumed; (3) absent state leaves the lock unconsumed and returns AssetLockAlreadyConsumed; (4) query failure leaves the lock unconsumed and retains nonterminal reconciliation; (5) missing or invalid proof leaves the lock unconsumed and remains resumable. Assert that only verified FullyConsumed calls consume_asset_lock.

Add a prove-then-verify round-trip test. It would also guard against query drift.
asset_lock_outpoint_info_query is defined twice. This copy hard-codes RootTree::SpentAssetLockTransactions as u8. The producer in packages/rs-drive/src/drive/asset_lock/mod.rs builds the path through asset_lock_storage_path(). The two paths match today. If either one changes, verification fails at runtime and the compiler does not catch it.
Issue #5580 asks for tests of the consumed, unconsumed, and no-proof outcomes. The PR objectives report that no tests were added. Add a Drive test that does the following:
Insert an outpoint for each state: absent, partially consumed, and fully consumed.
Call prove_asset_lock_outpoint_info.
Call verify_asset_lock_outpoint_info.
Assert that the result is NotPresent, PartiallyConsumed, or FullyConsumed as expected.

Force proofs for this proof-only query.
SdkBuilder::with_proofs(false) is supported, but the SDK documents that proof-only query builders must force proofs or return a configuration error. This query forwards settings.prove, so a proofs-disabled SDK sends prove: false. The ABCI response then has no proof, while StoredAssetLockInfo parsing requires one and returns Error::NoProofInResult.

Final validation — Phase 1 + Phase 2
The proof-backed asset-lock query is wired through the expected Drive, ABCI, DAPI, proof-verifier, and SDK layers, and the CI snapshot reports successful Rust workspace and relevant client checks. However, the new proof verifier decodes peer-supplied proof bytes with the trusted decoder before quorum authentication, which violates the repository's deserialization safety boundary and should be fixed before merging; several non-blocking consistency and coverage issues also remain.
Triage: critical by gpt-6.1-sol (effort low) — This is a large cross-cutting change that adds consensus-facing ABCI query handling and new cryptographic proof generation and verification in the asset-lock state path.
These findings are from an automated code review. Verify each finding against the current code and only fix it if needed.
In `packages/rs-drive/src/verify/asset_lock/verify_asset_lock_outpoint_info/v0/mod.rs`:
- [BLOCKING] packages/rs-drive/src/verify/asset_lock/verify_asset_lock_outpoint_info/v0/mod.rs:8: Decode proof-derived asset-lock values with the untrusted decoder
The `Element::Item` bytes originate from a peer-supplied GroveDB proof, but this verifier uses `PlatformDeserializableTrusted` at line 52. The quorum/Tenderdash signature is checked later by `drive-proof-verifier` after this function returns, so the bytes must be treated as untrusted during decoding. The trusted decoder reserves collection capacity from attacker-controlled length prefixes, whereas the untrusted decoder is specifically designed to avoid that behavior; the serialization trait documentation explicitly forbids the trusted path for proof data. Import `PlatformDeserializableUntrusted` and call `deserialize_from_bytes_untrusted` instead, matching the existing asset-lock state-transition proof verifier.
- [SUGGESTION] packages/rs-drive/src/verify/asset_lock/verify_asset_lock_outpoint_info/v0/mod.rs:12-19: Share the asset-lock proof query constructor between proving and verification
The verifier independently reconstructs the same path, key shape, and one-item limit that are defined by `drive::asset_lock::asset_lock_outpoint_info_query` and used by the prover. The server asset-lock module is currently compiled only with the `server` feature, so a direct import is unavailable to the verify-only build, but the query constructor can be moved to a module compiled under both features. Keeping these two copies synchronized is essential: a future path or limit change on only one side would make generated proofs unverifiable or cause verification to validate a different statement.
- [SUGGESTION] packages/rs-drive/src/verify/asset_lock/verify_asset_lock_outpoint_info/v0/mod.rs:32-35: Return a structured error for an unexpected proof element count
The verifier rejects any result count other than one using a stringly typed `CorruptedProof`. Sibling proof verifiers use `ProofError::WrongElementCount { expected, got }`, which preserves the actual count for callers and diagnostics and avoids requiring consumers to parse an error string. Use the structured variant here as well.
- [SUGGESTION] packages/rs-drive/src/verify/asset_lock/verify_asset_lock_outpoint_info/v0/mod.rs:22-57: Add focused tests for all asset-lock proof states
The PR adds a new proof-generation and verification boundary but no focused tests. Cover a generated and verified proof for an absent outpoint, an empty item representing a fully consumed outpoint, and a serialized `AssetLockValue` representing a partially consumed outpoint. Also cover a wrong element type and malformed serialized value. These cases are the core contract of the endpoint and would catch path, absence-proof, and storage-encoding regressions.
In `packages/rs-sdk/src/platform/asset_lock_outpoint_info.rs`:
- [SUGGESTION] packages/rs-sdk/src/platform/asset_lock_outpoint_info.rs:18-30: Reject proof-disabled SDK requests for this proof-only Fetch type
The query copies `settings.prove` into the request, so an SDK configured with `with_proofs(false)` receives the direct `AssetLockOutpointInfo` response. However, `StoredAssetLockInfo` only implements the proof-backed `Fetch` path, whose `FromProof` implementation unconditionally requires `response.proof_owned()` and therefore returns `NoProofInResult` for that response. Reject `!settings.prove` locally, as other proof-only SDK queries do, or add a separate unproved result and `FetchUnproved` implementation.
In `packages/rs-platform-version/src/version/drive_versions/mod.rs`:
- [SUGGESTION] packages/rs-platform-version/src/version/drive_versions/mod.rs:125: Remove the unused duplicate asset-lock proof version slot
The new method version is declared in both `DriveProveMethodVersions` and `DriveAssetLockMethodVersions`, and every version snapshot initializes both fields. The prover dispatcher reads only `platform_version.drive.methods.asset_lock.prove_asset_lock_outpoint_info`; the generic `methods.prove.prove_asset_lock_outpoint_info` field has no reader. Maintaining two apparent authorities makes a future version bump easy to apply to the dead field while leaving behavior unchanged. Keep the slot in the asset-lock group, where this dispatcher already selects it, and remove the unused generic slot and its initializers.
In `packages/rs-drive-abci/src/query/asset_lock_outpoint_info/v0/mod.rs`:
- [SUGGESTION] packages/rs-drive-abci/src/query/asset_lock_outpoint_info/v0/mod.rs:62-74: Use the generated status enum instead of raw response integers
The handler emits `1`, `2`, and `3` for the generated proto `Status` enum. This duplicates the wire numbering and would continue compiling if the proto enum were renumbered, silently returning the wrong status. Use the generated enum discriminants so incompatible proto changes are caught or made explicit at compile time.
In `packages/dapi-grpc/protos/platform/v0/platform.proto`:
- [SUGGESTION] packages/dapi-grpc/protos/platform/v0/platform.proto:590: Document the transaction-ID byte representation in outpoint requests
The comment documents the output index as little-endian but only calls the first 32 bytes a transaction ID. It does not state whether clients must send raw transaction-ID bytes or the bytes obtained from a display-order transaction-ID hex string. The Rust SDK uses `txid.to_byte_array()`, so clients starting from human-readable hex can otherwise construct a different outpoint and receive `NOT_PRESENT`.

Re-review — Final validation — Phase 1 + Phase 2
The proof-backed query implementation correctly covers proof generation, verification, version dispatch, and the SDK trust boundary. However, the PR does not integrate the query into the wallet retry/resume reconciliation path, so the stated wallet-recovery goal remains unavailable; several non-blocking integration and hardening gaps also remain. The Rust workspace test check was still in progress in the supplied CI snapshot.

🔴 Blocking: Wire the proof-backed query into wallet retry and resume reconciliation packages/rs-platform-wallet/src/wallet/asset_lock/orchestration.rs:463-528
The PR adds a Fetch-compatible query, but no rs-platform-wallet production path invokes it. reconcile_asset_lock_submit_result still only attempts an optional Core ChainLock upgrade, records consumption as unknown when that succeeds, and returns AssetLockAlreadyConsumed; it never queries Platform for verified StoredAssetLockInfo. Consequently, a lost response for a genuinely consumed Type 18 transition remains indistinguishable from an unconsumed or partially consumed lock on later retry or resume, so the wallet cannot make the safe terminal decision described by issue #5580. Integrate this query into the owning wallet orchestration and only complete the drain after a verified FullyConsumed result.

🟡 Suggestion: Expose the new RPC through the public Node.js and browser Promise clients packages/dapi-grpc/clients/platform/v0/nodejs/PlatformPromiseClient.js:100-124
The generated low-level Node.js and web service bindings contain getAssetLockOutpointInfo, but the handwritten PlatformPromiseClient wrappers do not register or expose it. The Node.js wrapper shown here only promisifies the existing methods, and the browser wrapper likewise lacks a method. Because these wrappers are exported as the public Promise clients, consumers using the documented Node.js or browser API cannot call the new endpoint and will see an undefined method. Add the wrapper methods and client-level coverage in both environments.

🟡 Suggestion: Register the new request in the persisted mock loader packages/rs-sdk/src/mock/sdk.rs:321-328
MockResponse for StoredAssetLockInfo enables in-memory mock expectations, but load_expectations_sync has no GetAssetLockOutpointInfoRequest match arm. A dumped expectation for this new Fetch request therefore reaches the default branch and fails with unknown request type ... missing match arm instead of loading the expectation, breaking file-backed offline/mock workflows.
Triage: critical by gpt-6.1-sol (effort low) — This large cross-cutting change adds cryptographic asset-lock proof generation and verification plus peer-facing gRPC/ABCI query handling for funds-related state, directly affecting proof soundness and authenticated consumption decisions.

- [SUGGESTION] packages/rs-drive/src/verify/asset_lock/verify_asset_lock_outpoint_info/v0/mod.rs:44-46: Reject trailing bytes in proved asset-lock values
The verifier uses the bounded untrusted decoder, but that decoder intentionally ignores bytes after the decoded value. A proved GroveDB item containing a valid `AssetLockValue` followed by arbitrary bytes is therefore accepted as `PartiallyConsumed`, even though it is not a canonical serialization. Use the exact untrusted decoder so malformed suffixes are rejected as well.

- [SUGGESTION] packages/rs-drive/src/drive/asset_lock_outpoint_info_query.rs:1-12: Place the prover/verifier query helper in the common layer
The new `PathQuery` constructor is used by both the server-only prover and the verify-only verifier, making it a proof-shape invariant shared across the feature boundary. The repository's coding conventions explicitly require helpers used by both prover and verifier code to live under `drive::util::common`; keeping this helper under `drive` storage-oriented modules makes the ownership boundary less clear and leaves future proof-shape changes easier to place incorrectly. (existing thread: https://github.com/dashpay/platform/pull/5581#discussion_r4378420887)
The comment now documents the 4-byte little-endian output index, but it still does not identify the required representation of the first 32 bytes. The SDK constructs the key with `txid.to_byte_array()`; clients starting from displayed transaction-ID hex can use a different byte order while still producing a valid 36-byte request, causing the server to query a different outpoint and return a valid but irrelevant proof. Document that the first 32 bytes use the raw/internal `Txid::to_byte_array()` order rather than display/hex order.

Wired proof-backed asset-lock reconciliation into Type 18 shielded drains; a lost already-consumed response closes the drain only after a verified FullyConsumed result.
Exposed getAssetLockOutpointInfo through Node.js and browser Promise clients.
Registered GetAssetLockOutpointInfoRequest in persisted mock loading.
Switched proof decoding to the exact untrusted decoder and moved the shared query helper into drive::util::common.
Validated with cargo check for platform-wallet (including --features shielded), drive, drive-proof-verifier, dash-sdk, and rs-dapi; targeted wallet and Drive tests pass.

Re-review — Final validation — Phase 1 + Phase 2
The proof-backed asset-lock query is correctly wired through Drive, ABCI, DAPI, SDK, and wallet reconciliation, with strict proof verification and untrusted exact decoding. Two issues remain: Type 18 can perform a second verification query and report failure after that query proves full consumption, and the Node.js Promise client still does not expose the new RPC publicly. The outpoint protobuf comment also remains ambiguous about the transaction-ID byte order; Rust workspace tests were still running in the supplied CI snapshot.

- [BLOCKING] packages/rs-platform-wallet/src/wallet/shielded/fund_from_asset_lock.rs:452-468: Reuse one verified result for Type 18 reconciliation
The Type 18 path calls `mark_asset_lock_consumed_if_verified` and then, whenever it returns `false`, passes the original submit error to `reconcile_asset_lock_submit_result`, which performs the same proof-backed query again. If the first query fails transiently or observes a nonterminal state and the second query verifies `FullyConsumed`, the reconciliation helper consumes the local lock but returns `AssetLockAlreadyConsumed`; the `await?` exits before the Type 18 success cleanup and activity handling. Carry the first verification outcome into reconciliation, or make the reconciliation API return an explicit successful consumed outcome, so a verified `FullyConsumed` result completes the drain without a second query or error.

- [SUGGESTION] packages/dapi-grpc/clients/platform/v0/nodejs/PlatformPromiseClient.js:124-126: Expose the new RPC through the public Node.js and browser Promise clients
The constructor only promisifies `this.client.getAssetLockOutpointInfo`; `PlatformPromiseClient` itself still has no public `getAssetLockOutpointInfo` method. Node.js callers using the documented Promise wrapper therefore receive `TypeError: client.getAssetLockOutpointInfo is not a function`, while the generated RPC is reachable only through the internal `client` property and bypasses the wrapper's request/response conversion and metadata handling. Add the public wrapper, following the existing Node.js methods and using the corresponding generated request and response converters.

The field comment specifies the 32-byte transaction ID and little-endian output index, but it does not identify the required byte order for the transaction ID. The SDK constructs the first 32 bytes with `Txid::to_byte_array()`, whereas clients starting from display-order transaction-ID hex can construct a different valid 36-byte key and receive a valid `NOT_PRESENT` result for the wrong outpoint. Document that the transaction ID must use the raw/internal byte order produced by `Txid::to_byte_array()`.

Do not complete the drain from outpoint status alone.
FullyConsumed is the intended condition for recovering a lost response, but it proves only that the outpoint was spent. It does not prove that this ShieldFromAssetLock transition produced the requested Orchard output.
The wallet accepts a caller-supplied recipient, and the recovery code treats a sibling transaction spending the same outpoint as a possible competing consumer. If that consumer wins, this branch still returns Ok(()) with no landed actions or output binding.
Preserve the indeterminate or AssetLockAlreadyConsumed result unless the proof identifies the expected transition or output.

Re-review — Final validation — Phase 1 + Phase 2
The proof-backed outpoint query is wired correctly through Drive, ABCI, DAPI, SDK, mocks, and generated clients, and the 14 previously reported findings are fixed. One blocking wallet-integrity issue remains: a fully consumed outpoint proves only that the outpoint was spent, not that the requested ShieldFromAssetLock transition or Orchard output succeeded; the Type 18 path nevertheless marks the lock consumed and returns success. Rust workspace tests were still in progress in the supplied CI snapshot.
Triage: critical by gpt-6.1-sol (effort low) — This is a large cross-cutting change that adds cryptographic asset-lock proof generation and verification, ABCI query handling, and wallet funds-reconciliation behavior affecting a critical funds and trust boundary.

- [BLOCKING] packages/rs-platform-wallet/src/wallet/shielded/fund_from_asset_lock.rs:460-462: Do not complete Type 18 funding from outpoint consumption alone
The proof-backed FullyConsumed result authenticates only that the asset-lock outpoint has an empty stored Platform value. It does not identify the consuming transition, bind the spend to this ShieldFromAssetLock request, or prove that the caller-supplied Orchard recipient received a note. This branch therefore creates an empty landed-action list, skips activity recording, and proceeds through cleanup to consume the local lock and return Ok(()). A competing valid consumer, a second wallet process, or a resumed call with different recipient arguments can consume the same single-use outpoint while the requested shielded output never lands, causing the wallet to report successful funding and hide the recovery state. Preserve the indeterminate or AssetLockAlreadyConsumed result unless authenticated evidence binds consumption to the expected transition or output; alternatively extend the proof/API at the owning Platform layer to expose that binding.
