LMDB is C, and py-lmdb supports wrapping that using CPyExt and using CFFI, but zlmdb only supports CFFI wrapped LMDB - by design & opinion. but zlmdb's lower level API is fully compatible with py-lmdb at the Python application level. laying out the difference between CPyExt and CFFI, the consequences, eg when targeting CPython and PyPy, on different CPU archs and libc's, and the advantages of zlmdb CFFI wrapped LMDB, zlmdb in general, and native binary wheels available with zlmdb, which includes upstream bundled LMDB, is a longer/broader discussion.

Hi. I don't understand what drop-in replacement for py-lmdb means: py-lmdb provides both a cffi and C version? Thanks
