The TheftWatch streaming implementation includes:
- A new StreamingView with camera selection and stream controls
- Integration in the main menu
- Backend service calls to start/stop FFmpeg streams
To fully implement streaming functionality, a complete solution for serving HLS files is needed:
The StreamIngestionService creates HLS segments using FFmpeg but the system is missing:
- HTTP endpoint to serve HLS segment files to browsers
- CORS configuration for browser access to stream files
- Proper file access controls for the stream segments
- Create a proper file serving mechanism for HTTP access to HLS segments
- Configure CORS properly for the streaming endpoints
- Ensure secure access to stream segments (authentication/authorization)
When the system runs and FFmpeg creates segments in the configured directory (/data/hls by default), these files should be accessible at endpoint like:
- /stream/{cameraId}/stream.m3u8 (for the playlist)
- /stream/{cameraId}/segment_XXX.ts (for individual segments)
The current implementation meets the UI requirements but streaming functionality will require additional backend work to properly serve files.
