is there a way to share the thread externally via link only similar to how nextcloud allows external shares

Right now there isn't, but I am working on guest access functionality to be added in the coming days.

When that happens, you can enable guest functionality to the forum which doesn't require login. But all guests will have access to any categories the role is assigned to have access to, it's not specific threads.

It's possible that I will implement specific thread sharing in the future, but that requires some work and I haven't made a plan for this yet.

Would the upcoming guest functionality be a good solution for you, or do you want specific thread access only?

Also, do you expect limited links, with functionality like password lock, or just opening up threads for anyone to see?

Your input would help shape this feature if/when it gets implemented.
