Recovering previous versions?

[magpie514]

I had a post from Reddit with some interesting information, then the post was deleted some hours later. I went to Hister to see if it was stored there, but it only shows

Is there any way to recover the post I had before it was overwritten?

Only if you add a "versioning" rule to reddit URLs. It stores the diff of the updated submissions - but keep in mind, this feature is still very rudimentary with very rough edges.

Hm, I see! So what it stores is the diff instead of multiple versions? Interesting.
Well I'd rather have rough edges than losing data. The only thing I miss here is the ability to delete specific snapshots, but it's not too bad, I like it and does the job.

Thanks!

I have not experimented that much with this feature. I'd apprecaite if you'd test it and suggest improvements.

I've forced a bunch of testing scenarios and so far the only thing I'm missing is some way to remove unwanted snapshots. Maybe a "lock" in case the information has changed or was removed to not add more snapshots? Otherwise seems to do what it says in the tin, which is pretty good.
