It might be possible to use parallelization to speed up cropping. Unfortunately, I don't expect to have sufficient time to really look into that in the near future. But I have just added it to the TODO file so that it may inspire others.

BTW, I just released a new version (0.7.0). If you encounter any issues with it, please let me know!
