Why use the ECR mirror for Redis instead of docker.io/library/redis?

The argo-cd chart defaults to ecr-public.aws.com/docker/library/redis
for both redis.image.repository and redis-ha.image.repository.

Is there a specific reason to use the AWS ECR mirror instead of
docker.io/library/redis?

We encounter recurring AWS public registry image pull rate limits
in our kubriX CI installations. We understand that Docker Hub has
its own limits and that the repository can already be overridden.

• Was ECR chosen because of rate limits, availability, or another reason?
• Are there compatibility concerns when switching to docker.io/library/redis
  while retaining an equivalent available tag?
• Would you consider Docker Hub as the default, or document the rationale
  for the current choice?
