Epic: Lit review - neural correlates of naturalistic movie watching (4 perspectives) #15

Description

Goal

Build a citation-grounded literature review on neural correlates of naturalistic movie watching, organized into four perspectives:

  1. Psychophysics — low-level visual features (luminance, motion, contrast, spectral content), bottom-up cortical responses
  2. Action — biological motion, action observation, parietal-frontal networks, event segmentation
  3. Language — narrative comprehension, semantic prediction, audiovisual context (ThePresent is silent; treat as comparator/boundary)
  4. Emotion — affect, social cognition, theory of mind, valence/arousal in cinematic stimuli

Extends the Week 3 HBN movie-watching practicum. Output: a corpus + synthesis + direction paper that grounds the HBN-ERSP "boy-shot vs puppy-shot" results in the broader literature.

Phases

  • Phase 1: Briefs (one per strand) — _briefs/strand-*.md
  • Phase 2: Collection — research/collection/<strand>/ paper-cards + INDEX.md + <strand>.bib
  • Phase 3: Synthesis — ontologies, science-map, gap-analysis, scope-diagram
  • Phase 4: Direction paper + self-review — direction-papers/movie-ersp-direction.md

Workflow

  • Driven via /project:epic-dev, layered on manuscript:lit-review skill
  • Branch model: epic branch feature/issue-N-epic-lit-review-movies from develop; one phase PR per phase
  • Tooling: opencite:opencite for DOI/PDF retrieval and BibTeX, manuscript:manuscript-writing for prose discipline, manuscript:paper-review for self-review
  • Acceptance: every claim in the direction paper links back to a card.md path; gap-analysis lists what the corpus does NOT support
