as you raised various issues and suggested improvements to the supercells package in the past, I would like to point you to the new version of the package. In the last several weeks, I've been working on various changes -- many of which are explained in the new documentation (e.g., see https://jakubnowosad.com/supercells/articles/v2-intro.html).

Please let me know if you have any suggestions for improving it -- I would appreciate your feedback.

Hey, thanks for the notice!
I already tested 1.9.2 one week ago and it was amazingly fast: great! the option "to_LAB" definitely disappeared, right?
BTW, as soon as I go back to those analyses I'll check the new available tools as well.
in the meantime: many thanks for the great piece of software ;)

1. Yes -- I forgot to mention that, the current version is generally faster (I would say about 2 times, on average) and uses about three times less RAM.
2. So the supercells function still exists, and it still allows the use of "to_LAB". However, this option is no longer available in the new functions (e.g., sc_slic()). I prefer to leave data preparation to the users.

Thanks @Nowosad. I look forward to testing the new version. Agreed that conversion of images to other color spaces can be done outside the context of this package. Having it built into supercells was convenient though.

Did a quick test with a local photograph, and:

s <- supercells(x, k = 7, compactness = 30, verbose = 2, avg_fun = median)
Error in if (terra::is.lonlat(x)) { : 
  missing value where TRUE/FALSE needed
In addition: Warning message:
[is.lonlat] unknown crs 

It seems like x must have a defined, planar CRS. Apart from assigning an arbitrary CRS, do you have any suggestions for images (e.g. photographs) that have no CRS?

Thanks @dylanbeaudette -- I just updated the code (8d878fc) to allow for data without CRS.
