Doesn't seem to trigger a switch on Catalina

Possible I'm missing something in setup steps but doesn't seem to operate for me.

macOS version:

Steps to reproduce:

1. Install app switcher
2. Drag button out to deck
3. Try pressing

Expected: app switches? Maybe it reads the title field to pick the app
Actual: nothing happens

it's supposed to mimick the ALT + TAB, so it should show all open apps and switch to the next one unless one keeps pressing it a few times to cycle through the next app in the list.

I was hoping it can actually pre-select an app that I want to switch to, but seems like I will need a different approach to solve this, i.e. via process using apple script or something in order to use hot keys that only work when the app window is aktive.
