Git is not displaying content (WSL)

i'm assuming you opened the project from the WSL network drive? unfortunately the only windows machine i have is a work PC where i can't access WSL network drives for some reason so i can't reproduce this. i also tried in a windows VM but it seems like WSL doesn't work at all inside a VM.

some things to check:

• do you have git installed on the host windows machine? this is necessary when running from a WSL network drive because commands are still run from the host machine
• alternatively, does it work if you install and open rebased itself from inside WSL instead?
• is the problem unique to rebased? does it work in intellij community?

I did some testing and can reproduce this.

Even with the Git executable correctly pointing to the WSL-internal binary (\\wsl.localhost\Ubuntu_D\usr\bin\git), the IDE still shows "No Git roots in the project" for projects stored inside the WSL filesystem (e.g. /home/...).

This suggests the issue is not with the Git executable itself, but rather that the IDE fails to detect the .git directory as a valid Git root when the project path is a WSL UNC path (\\wsl.localhost\...).

This appears to be a bug in how IntelliJ handles WSL paths when scanning for Git roots. I'll investigate further.

wsl2 is work for me but after opening the terminal, it shows Windows PowerShell instead of Bash/Zsh in WSL.

I did not see project directory as well, on Windows without WSL.

No project view on Mac as well. Is it intended and project view is stripped down too? However, I can view "Show repository at revision" but that is weird.

Yes the project view issue is unrelated. This issue is that the git log doesn't seem to load in WSL
