You're right that "the Git Log should be the core of a Git GUI," but treating it as just another file tab actually devalues it. When I need to check the log quickly among dozens of opened tabs, having to hunt for it one by one is far less efficient than the original method of triggering it from the bottom via a shortcut.

Love the focus on the Git Log as the primary view, but please make the new UI optional. Keeping the classic JetBrains behavior as a toggle would prevent breaking our muscle memory.
