Platform/quirks still mentions the deprecated asahi-fwextract #252
@kubrickfr It doesn't make much sense to encrypt /boot with asahi imho. I also use full disk encryption on Void, but /boot is in plain
$ ls /boot
asahi m1n1 vendorfw
and this change does not bother me at all, since vendorfw stuff happens in the initramfs. The only missing piece is for mini to be able to boot signed stage2 payloads (for me the stage2 payload is kernel, but it could be also u-boot), which is why they are writing it in rust if I am not mistaken.
I confirm it works. I just assumed that because typically firmwares are bundled in the initramfs from other locations. I guess I would have to run dracut to really update the firmware?

Perhaps also clarify whether the
asahi-firmwarepackage becomes useless in distro requirements, and if so dropasahi-fwupdatein asahi-scripts?kubrickfr commentedon Apr 26, 2026
Using the installer doesn't work for me, I have an encrypted installation, so I would need a way to copy over the firmware manually please.

/bootis not encrypted, but that's not where the fw lives, on fedora at least.EDIT: actually, it might be, in
/boot/efi/vendorfw/. Let's see if that works...kubrickfr commentedon Apr 27, 2026

I guess it worked because now I have graphic corruption issues in chrome and firefox :)
